right, the playoffs start today.

I haven't watched much of the regular season, anyone got any tips and opinions. Both the NewYorkers have homefield advantage all the way through.
Apparently the Yankees start with the Chinese dude Wang. I'm hoping the Mets do it.

I'll be over there in a few weeks at the end of the AL and NL championship series, so hopefully might catch a game. Anyone any tips on scalpers around Shea and Yankee? ..the net has crazy prices.

NL
LA Dodgers @ NY Mets
SL Cardinals @ SD Padres

AL
Det Tigers @ NY Yankees
Oak A's @ Minn Twins

You'll be paying a small fortune for any of the New York teams around playoff time especially considering both are there..

Haven't seen much of the season since June. Detroit are apparently playing brutal stuff at the moment so Yankees should pull through there.

But i really haven't seen enough of the season to make a real judgement . The regular season standings would suggest and All New York World Series. That would be something special. But it rarely works out like that.

I think the mets are the only team that can make the world series interesting. The American league is far more competitive.

Gonna go for an all NY world series too. Yankees to win it 4-1.

Tigers impressed over the summer but have faded recently, they'll have their work cut out against the Yankees. Oakland have been fairly impressive all season and should have too much for the Twins. Havent seen enough of the NL teams really

My picks from this series would be:
NL
Mets
Cards

AL
Yankees
A's

I'd go along with that,

..wins for St Louis and the A's on the road last night.
and Yankees won comfortably 8-4, Jeter and Damon among the runs.

Jeter on fire last night, went 5/5!! Wang was solid. The Mets have lost Pedro and possibly El Duque, they'll have their work cut out for them.
Let's go Yankees!!!

Good win and good hitting from the Mets tonight, winning 6-5.
Delgado went 4/5 on his post-season debut, (came in at 4/4 with the bases loaded at the bottom of the 8th!)

Minnesota went down again to the A's and are in trouble, 0-2.

I'd like to see whoever wins the Dodgers vs Mets series win the whole thing.
Preferably against the Yankees.

heh heh

..and dropped even further down to 8th as well.

Detroit were pretty tenacious in both games, including the fans.
...whatever happened to the yankees hitting line-up?

Bonderman was sensational, no hits til the sixth.

Mets have just gone 9-5 up at the top of the 8th ..and still more to come,
...looking sweet.

Jesus I miss watching baseball live. When I lived in Berkeley I used to try to make it to as many of the Giants home games as possible. Unfortunately, my only access to it now is the late night coverage on Five.

Ah well, the Ashes starts in a few weeks.

It's not been a great post-season. Many series having been decided early,
..including 3 sweeps. hopefully the Mets - Cardinals can come alive.

The last couple of nights have been pitching disasters for the Mets. Trachsel was hauled off last night in the second with the game pretty much over. ...he was embarrassed, ..5 walks, 5-0 down and the bases loaded, ..and even struck in the groin! (exaggeration) ..which was part excuse for the exit.

It's pretty much a must win game for the Mets tonight.

Detroit are gonna be well rested for the final, ..7 days between the ALCS and game 1.

watched the last 3 innings of the Detroit Oakland game yesterday and the A's pitcher through 13 balls in a row. he managed to load the bases without a batter even making a hit.

Mets/Cards game postponed last night, much to the relief of the Mets. They really needed that day to give their bullpen some much needed rest. I really can't see anyone beating the Tigers though, unless their pitching falls apart.

Crazy finish on Tuesday. I think Detroit may suffer from having such a long break. -AmadeusDC-

Cards beat Mets in game 7, 3-1. 2 run homer at the top of the 9th for the Cards, then they struck out to win the game in the bottom with the bases loaded

And with Beltran at the plate.

Now THATS what makes baseball what it is.

Ya, it was great to watch in fairness. Nothing will match those couple of Yankees Red Sox series from a few years back though!! The MLB Playoffs can make some great TV, it's just a shame is 150+ average games before it gets exciting. -AmadeusDC-

gutted for the Mets.
..an absolute horrible way to lose.

I managed to get tickets for game 6 at Shea on wednesday, $100 each off Craigslist.com on the afternoon of the game, which was just 15 above face ...sweet.
prices drop down the day before the game. stubhub.com is also good for all sports tickets over here.

There was a great atmosphere at the game, the stand was vibrating up and down after the double in the sixth. Jose Reyes was superb all night.

Our lot had a stag do out-and-about in New York last night, and it was murder to watch them just fall short, ...it seemed destined for extra innings. ...Great pitching in two games from Suppan.

Other than the Cards-Mets, it was a poor postseason.

The TV ratings were the worst ever for the fall classic.
Mostly due to no big city interest, (no NY, Chicago and no California interest). The pitchers dominated too much.

I only caught the first half of games 2 and 4 from the final. Congrats to St Louis, well deserved.

Mota, argueably(sp) the Mets best relief pitcher down the stretch, has just been banned for 50 games for taking steriods.

That ain't much of a suspension compared to other sports.
It's only about 30% of the rregular season, ..about 2 months!

This is a bit of a joke, the MLB have got to tie in with the IOC with their standards and punishments. And this is despite the MLB toughening their punishment up recently from a ridiculous 10 games.

This is all mockery, ffs, etc. Baseball better tackle the drugs issue, and therefore have the best players available for the Olympics.

It also looks like he has taken a hit for the team, declaring himself a free agent and taking sole responsibility.
