Hmm, the "siege mentality by numbers" thing isn't very promising.
Nor the spontaneous bottle kicking, "I care" shite.
Must be something to do with the FAI and the sort it attracts that they keep falling for bluffers like this guy and Mick Mc.

To be honest man I think it's down to the FAI. Staunton should have never have been offered the job at this early stage in his managers career. I think he was a bit blinded by the honour of managing his country.
Personally I'm willing to give him a chance but those fuckn ghowls up there in Dublin "running the show" should be booted out they're the reason Irish soccer is in the condition it is.

the team never looked like they were going to do anything than to lose with respect which i would say will come back to bite them in the ass come end of qualification but we'll be nowhere the top 2 so it doesnt matter.
Funniest bit of last night was George Hamilton saying he could possibly be the first Irish manager sent from the touchline..cue ten second silence while himself and Ray Houghton checked the facts only to see Big Jack had been already. fucking muppets!

It seems to be the fashion to give untried managers international jobs.
Germany, Holland and now Brazil have all done it.
I don't think it really matters, however, who manages Ireland for the next year or two, you can't polish a turd. We have no midfield and are too lightweight upfront. We need all our young players to come good and not make stupid career moves like Liam Miller, as well as hoping that the likes of Duff and Keane avoid injuries. If we can get the beginnings of a decent side together we should try for someone like Guus Hiddink if we could afford him.

We should have gone for Hiddink in the first place

Yes but this is the FAI we're talking about.

True, what about Big bird or Bert and Earnie then?

With a half decent team even an average team and a manager that actually knows tactics and organisation we could do well but there's hope with Stan in fairness. Everyone's saying how crucial Keane and Duff are but without Given we'd be fucked altogether.

True, Charlton is a great example he knew how to get the best out of the team.
And without Given there'd be no hope he made some cracking saves last night. Thank fuck for him!!!!

It's mental that he doesn't really get the praise he should but suppose that's what ya get playing with Newcastle (plus a lot of practice).

if he just sat on the bench and did nothing, you'd be giving out shite that he didn't care, ffs.

It isn't very mature for a manager to get himself banished to the stands because of allowing his personal feelings to get the better of him. He is being paid good money to be on the touchline managing his team. His own impetuousness is what got him banned, and for that he left the team and the supporters down.
There is no "I" in team.
(There is an "m" and an "e" though)

agreed, it was immature, but i was picking kk up on the fact that he seemed to think it was put on. i'd rather have a manager that has a bit of passion rather than a sven goran erikson type, who does nothing.

H ewon't be allowed to communicate with his staff when he is banned from the touchline, so he will have to borrow Jose Mourinhos wooly hat, but that might look suspicious in Cyprus with the weather they get.
Although it will be in October, so maybe he will get away with it.

sure didn't he wear a cap during the national anthem in orlando, 1994, 120 degrees didn't seem to matter then

In fairness my instant reaction was that it was all put on as well. He' been getting a lot of stick from people saying that he didn't wasn't a leader etc. I just thought that this was his attempt " to show his passion" . If anything it was just ill-timed . At a crucial time of the game it was vey unprofessional.

Germany,Holland,Braz il and Ireland.
The others besides Ireland have quality players. Ireland aren't exactly blessed with the pool of players. And as someone said, any manager can look good if his team are good.
