Why is your work so cheap?

Because i dont belive in charging insane prices like some designers.

You get the same quality of work(if not better), for cheaper.

So you work out of your bedroom and home with your parents. No overheads or employees to pay so you can charge cheap prices. It's because of people like you that the design industry pays crap salaries. Kick in the balls from me anyway is all you're getting.

Fair enough. You are entitled to your opinion, and i have mine, the design industry overcharges big time.

I know there are reason's for this, one of which would be there is no 'Garenteed' work.....

I'd like to see your work before judging if it is better then other designers.. Usually cheap rates equate to shoddy and unprofessional looking artwork in my opinion... Most designers spend a lot of time at college in order to understand the basics of visual communication. "Cheap rate designers" usually means someone who has put a web page together using Dreamweaver and some God awful colour schemes and then decides to promote themselves to a graphic designer..

Can you give me a good honest example of the overcharging you're talking about?

btw: did you work on the Cork Producers website?

Yes but dont judge me on that, I do completely different graphics than that.

What I don't get is why you're underselling your skills when you claim to be as good, if not better, than the designers who are over charging. Doesn't make any sense. Why not charge the same as them and if you're as good as you say, you'll be earning a nice packet.

Why don't you have a link in your sig pointing to your portfolio? Best way to advertise yourself if you don't want people to judge you on what you've got there now.

Why don't you have an online portfolio?

Have you got a big client base?

And how much experience have you got creating print ready artwork?

Just in case I decide to commission you to do some work...

I dont have a big client base, just a handful. Most people just want one off designs ect ect, but theres a few who look for design's no stop

I have about 3 years experience ;)

Most designers havent a clue how to design for print.
They are good designers but most of the stuff we get in needs a lot done to it before its ready for print.

Fair dues to ya for posting up a link. That BASS design isn't bad.
But for fuck sake, stop mentioning "cheapest rates" on your portfolio.
Give yourself a brief introduction and leave it at that.

Pop over to www.creativeireland. com and check out the Irish design scene. Will be good for inspiration (sometimes anyway. Don't let the place get you down, because sometimes they can be a heartless bunch :D And whatever you do, don't post up there pimping your cheap rates. Your head will be handed to you and you could finish yourself before you start. ;)
