Ya, we still have players that are good enough to get a result out there, but this will depend a lot on how they'll be set up. Personally I don't have the faith in Stan to get the tactics right . He's not the type of person that spreads confidence really

This should give us some hope as we may have a chance if the Germans play without any central defenders. However, with typical efficiency they have probably called up replacements.

Ballack is also quoted today as criticising Löwe, the new trainer.

A lot of the squad have no experience of qualification games as Klinsmann pretty much replaced all the squad he inherited.

Germany has more registered players than the population of Ireland, though, so they should have strength in depth. Mind you, the Bundesliga is piss poor these days - the clubs seem to spend their money on nice stadia instead of flashy players and there is no BSkyB pumping money into the league for the tv rights.
