I know we all want to see Cork win the three in a row but are the GAC making a mockery of all the club players efforts for the sake of 30 intercounty players.
Players all over the county have trained hard , stayed off the booze etc. for ages in preparation for this weekend only to be told they have to wait another six weeks now.
Without club hurling we would have no intercounty and I think it's about time the County Board recognised the efforts made by these players.

To use a rugby analogy (and before you kill me this is somewhat relevant), the Celtic league was won by Ulster in no small way because their first team was just under international standard and those that were were mostly released for Celtic league games (the Bests, Tommy Bowe and Andrew Trimble) consqeuntly they had a cohesion that Leinster and Munster lacked as their first teams had been utterly pillaged by EOS. I'm not saying that this is right or wrong but I'll wager a small pony that teams with many IC hurlers were rather vociferous in this

there is of course a knock on effect to smaller clubs too,who have no intercounty players. Tom Kennys involvement pretty much brings mid cork to a halt as far as championship activity is concerned for the next month

it holds up football too. i played a game in early april, another in early may and none since then bar a few meaningless challanges.
all we do is train. i've missed 2 training sessions in 2 months and im getting jip for it. its al very well cork winning all irelands but if the club player isn't getting a fair crack of teh whip then it will peter out. its all well and good with auld lads like myself but younger players will find something else to do.

Typical GAC carry on... recall last years city championship, when Erin's Own requested that the club games b4 the all-Ireland to be cancelled and Pat Mul. of New Town rang up all the officals requesting that they shouldn't.. knowing that 2 of Erin's Own Cork panel members were injured.. why cancel them now.. ??

Couldn't agree more. Erins own were the only team in the county last year that could have beaten Newtown. What has change so much in 12 months.

they're probably the only team in the county that can beat them this year aswell IMO, huge pick down in Caherlag these days, they're junior team should take the east cork title aswell

Imagine - 3 IN A ROW ON - Corcoran Captain (if Erin's Own won last year) - Sounds like a date with Destiny - no other more deserving...

Note: the E's O Junior will have a tough one against Dungourney in the Semi, again...

Dungourney are finished. They depend too much on John Cody and Liam Ahern.

Apparently, The mid cork board had a meeting monday night and decided to play the grenagh match on wednesday night. If that was to be played, that side of the championship could continue....

When officials told Grenagh, they said John Fucking Allen rang them and said not to play it..... IMP its a bit early to be telling players not to play club matches.... Cork county board are wearing side 3 boots!!
