I'm going to be looking for something hopefully in the next 2 months or so. As outstanding as the mother's micra is, i need my own car. Thing is, i need something that will be able to a take a good load eg speakers, amps etc. Decent suspension is paramount, as is a little bit of power (you cant imagine how funny it is, driving up any kind of hill with a tonne of speakers in the back and front of a 1ltr micra - im sure i saw blood coming out of the exhaust the next day). Budget wise, including insurance, could only be about 6 or 7 grand MAX id say. I'd consider a jeep, estate or even one of those stupid looking combis. Also, im 22 and waiting for my test. Hopefully will get that outta the way but im thinking what options I'm gonna have?

Mini jeeps are even more power strangled so get rid of that idea. A Citroen Berlingo mightn't be an bad idea but don't think you could get and insure a decent one within your budget. A small diesel car-van like a 306 van or something would probably be the best overall but it might be a bit small.

The 1.8's are petrol, turbo and N/A.

The dirty diesel are 1.9.

You can get the Audi in 1.6 petrol too rocky. Heavy, and slow though.

Or...a Passat

i was thinking of a passat alright. saw a few older ones that'd do the job. wouldnt have enough room in a golf i dont think. something or around that kinda size, ye know yereselves. something basically to drive into the ground. 1.6 would be plenty power id say, i think its been a while since you've driven a one litre maggot, you're starting to forget what slow really means. listen, next weekend, ill take your car and you can take mine. it'll be educational

I think you should go for a car thats done already it works out cheaper. A nice little Glanza ort something there only 1.3 but there is a turbo and there nippy enough aswell. I drive a scooby and i thought i would never get insurance for it but i got a broker and he sorted me out its on 1,500 on a WRX STI and im 24 with stupid drink driving charge under my belt.

you sure its insured properly? Glanza's are shit - the can't corner at all. not to mention the fact that the law will stop you every few seconds for driving a chav whackery mobile

His wha?

Sorry but i'm not 'down' with the chav talk.

The buddy got a GTI-R last week. Sunk to the ground, back seats are out
and it's got some sick power. The boost was at min too when I drove it. :o

Yeah they're trouble, but he has enough money not to worry about that.

A toyota chaser - sheesh its a 96 but pretty heavily modified bigger turbos intercooler etc etc.

I know a fella that used to own a Sunny GTI-R (not pulsar) one of those built so that it the GTI-R met the production Quota for entry into the rally championship, it was crazy spitting backfiring monster of a thing alas 16mpg (driving it economicially) soon put an end to it. twas red (faded)
