A bit silly playing the two at Thurles on the same day.....you would get big crowds for both matches!!!

beats having three munster counties support having to travel to dublin, like.......... I dunno, the other two quarter finals, retarded.

16.00------Tipp and Waterford
nice one! Croker just be great for this. Should be a bit easier for us deise heads to get tickets too, i can't imagine a lot bothering to turn up for the clare v wexford game.
we should do it handy enough too. Tipp will have had the wind taken out of their sails, after the munster final. Plus redser getting kicked out can't have been great for morale. and there's a few injuries too. Waterford have won every qualifier match, and quite comfortably at that. There was a new found confidence in the Waterford team in that Galway match that i haven't seen before, and they're, obviously, completely capable. We should be getting a semi-final out of it this year.

Think Galway will put them out again. Can't understand why Hayes won't bring Canning in, if he's good enough he's old enough christ's sake like.

not really, tickets for that double header will be hard to get. the wrong games are on in croker when you look at it.
Think we should have too much for what is still a troubled and unsettled Limerick side, cant call Galway and Kilkenny, there's very little between them, it will hardly be as good a game as last years encounter though

I was down in the park the day tipp beat ye and thought ye have gone back alot even from last year. Ye moved to stop Kelly too late in the game, made 11 positional changes at the throw in, had no continuity and even though ye hit alot of wides, It never looked likely that ye could beat Tipp that day.Sure ye had injuries, but Tipps half back line was in cruise control for most of the match(Shanahans goal being the only blot on their copy book really). Even with the trouble in the Tipp camp, i think they'll have too much for waterford

What's the deal with the semis? Open draw?

Apparently the Saturday games in Thurles would have been fixed for Croke Park if not for Mr. Billy Joel. Now we get 11,000 tickets for the All-Ireland quarter final. Bullshit.

No, provincial finalists can't meet again til the final, so Clare/Wexford will play Cork/Limerick and Tipp/Waterford play Kilkenny/Galway
I predict Clare V Cork in the first one, but the second is too close to call. could go either way in fairness.

They should have been held on seperate days in Thurles, or one of them should have been moved to Limerick or Killarney or somewhere. 11,000 tickets for Cork is a joke.

11,000 tickets for Cork is a joke.
you said it.....what are the GAA thinkin ?
play 4 seperate football matches in 4 seperate venues this weekend and then play 2 double headers in the hurling nxt wknd
just does not make sense , strange for the GAA not to take the more lucrative route , you'd imagine Kilkenny V Galway would be a big draw also
Wexford and Waterford will bring big enough crowds I'd say.
But you're right, both double-headers would get a decent crowd in croke park.
I suppose the all-ireland being on a week early this year means there's time constraints as well though, so they probably have to have them on that weekend.

Well they could have held the matches in Semple on Saturday and Sunday. Of course then they'd lose the television revenue for the Sunday game because it would clash with the ones in Croker, which is what it's all about really. Fitting in to the RTÉ schedule is more important than people actually being able to go to the matches.
Or they could have held them in two separate locations on the Saturday, and still at separate times so they could cover both. How many more matches is Limerick likely to see this year FFS? Probably would make it too expensive for RTÉ to cover it I suppose.

Croke park 23 july
14.15------Clare and Wexford
16.00------Tipp and Waterford
What kind of scheduling is that? Either of the games in Thurles would fill the stadium.
Tipp and Waterford should be playing in Cork, Galway and Kilkenny moved to Dublin and Cork and Limerick should be left to play in Thurles. As it is, if you're going to Thurles you'd better leave now

This is a disaster, another mad scramble for tickets. We get 11000 for an All-Ireland final and it's a nightmare, and that's in a stadium that can take 80000, what will it be like with a capacity of 53000? timing is bad as well, there'll be traffic everywhere, getting to Thurles will be a joke. And running off the Kilkenny/ Galway game at 7 on a saturday evening is wrong, i remember when Cork played Limerick on a Saturday evening a few years ago and it was shite

Me bollix,
aTtendances for the quarters are always shite.
Its a lot easier to travel to Thurles.
A full house in Thurles makes a lot more sense than a half empty croke park and a 6-7 hour journey home.

Why not just go down before the game and head home straight after and go out when you get home?

Whens the last time you drove to Thurles?
You have to leave early in the morning to not spend hours getting there and if you dont leave early on the way back, then ul be all night getting home.
Not worth the hassle.
If someone else drives il go.
