Do i have to go to the embassy in Dublin?? I didn't have to when I went a few years back, but they're so strict now. I know all my friends had to go to the embassy for their working visas, but I'll onky be visiting for a fortnight.

No probs :) Went myself 2 years ago, once your passport n all that is valid you'll be grand. They'll ask you alright at the airport why you're there and where you're staying, stuff like that but that's it.

I remember the last interrogation in JFK alright. It was only just after September 11 though.

you dont have to go to the nbc if your not working - but they do want your photos and your fingerpring. This is taking in Shannon whilst your surrounded by a lot of us troops en route. Kinda weird really

This needs one caveat.
You don't need to provided your passport is machine readable.
If it was issued in Ireland, it's almost cartainly fine, but mine was issued by an overseas embassy and isn't. If it was issued out of state before 2000, you'd want to check it.

and you have to make sure your passport is valid for 6 months or something after the date of your departure....... so you dont just get a new one over there and they dont know when you left...... or something like that, i think
