great program on ITV about how england fuck up every world cup last night. after watching it I get the feeling we're in for another shambles from them in june. failure has become part of their national footballing psyche. one part of the show featured the hand of god, and they were interviewing terry fenwick and terry butcher(two complete cunts of men) and both were still very bitter over the game, butcher said he wouldn't shake hands with diego in fact he'd punch him in the face if they ever met, for being such a cheat.(in fact in the first half of the game he threw an elbow at maradona which nearly put him out of the game when no-one was looking about 30 yards away from the ball). fenwick blames diego for ruining and reputation his career by destroying him and said he wishes he just hacked him out of the game(in fact he was book for scything right through him in the fitst half, then did it again but stayed on, then in the second half went clean through him for a third time, forcing maradona off the field for 5 minutes but never saw red).
brilliant stuff altogether, if the hand of god and the solo goal weren't enough, to see the effect it still has on these assholes after 20 years is wonderful.
There was another programme on Network 2 about it last night, you get the feeling that they nearly prefer the hand of god goal to the other one because it drove the English nuts, especially as it was after the Falklands, have to say, I was loving it myself

they did an hours worth of highlights of this game on sportfiles on saturday evening, great stuff alright. 114,000 at the game and there was a real bad atmosphere over the war. maradona must have made 5 or 6 runs where he beat four or five players. to see players like lineker, beardsley and hoddle look so poor in comparison to him was a sight.

I think you'll get your wish Lamps. After claiming that he would only be playing his strongest 11 from now on, that genius Sven is going to play Carragher in the holding role against Hungary tonight.
The mind boggles that he can still be fucking about with just over a week to go.
There was some dirty looks exchanged when they were lining up for the anthems

saw that, the man is beyond stupid. when was the last time carragher played that role, must have been 5 years ago at least. think he was a full back before centre half. and if there's an area where he's weak its distribution.
good ol sven

If there was a moment that summed up the mental divide between Britain and Argentina, it was the goal Diego Maradona punched into England's net at the 1986 World Cup. Later in the game, Maradona would dribble past half the England team to score a brilliant second, but, he said in his autobiography, "I sometimes think I preferred the one with my hand." Why? "It was a bit like stealing the wallet of the English."
The tiny criollo individualist had felled the muscular Britons. "It was as if we had beaten a country, not just a football team," Maradona wrote. "Although we had said before the game that football had nothing to do with the Malvinas war, we knew they had killed a lot of Argentine boys there, killed them like little birds. And this was revenge."

He's an absolute tit. Useless doesn't begin to describe him.
How he's stayed in the job this long is a miracle.

I presume Sven you are talking about?
Did you see in the news of the world, they had an expose about how Sven's bird was selling photo's of him for money. They print that, then they expect to win the world cup, then they want sven's head when they don't win it.
Madness like.
England are playing Hungary and Jamaica, i'm sure they will win both comfortably, in what i can only assume is a confidence booster. When they win the two frendlies, the media will go into overdrive.
Sven eh? What a card.
Sven's next thought: "I've a load of centre backs. D'ya know, Rio Ferdinand is quicker than most centre backs, and he's fairly tall - why hasn't anyone thought of playing him as a lone striker? He'd be great knocking balls down for my pacey right winger to run on to."
