For fuck sake. That year he scored a goal was his year cos that'll never happen again.

I've been watching him all year and for the first time in a few years he seems hungry again. He's even playing league games for castlelyons this year.

I'll give Timmy this: Kieran Murphy (Erin's Own) is a more frustrating player to watch.

Timmy is a far better player than hero will ever be
Timmy is a far better player than hero will ever be
Has he ever really delivered in the championship though??
I reckon I've only seen him having one or 2 decent games for Cork in the last few years.

His best performance I can remember was a second half performance in Killarney v Tipp and even at that he was truly woeful in the first half.

thats cause he only came on for the last two minutes of the 1st half

We had better start praying that Timmy has a good year, so far Ben is injured, Niall Mac is still playing terribly, as is Kieran Murphy Sars, as is Joe Deane by all accounts. I'm not looking forward to the Clare match

Yes, coming back to me now. At the time I remember thinking "Oh for fuck sake" and it was directed towards Timmy Mac in the first half, hence my dazed memory of it.

Here's something for all Timmy Bashers to mull over.
In four All-Ireland final appearances each, who has scored more from play, Timmy Mac or Joe Deane?
The answer is Timmy. People are quick to jump on the anti Timmy bandwagon but I think he's a valuable member of the team and will prove to be so again this year. Can anybody name a serious alternative to Timmy?
The man has also won every club honour from Junior A up,no mean feat.

Absolutely not. He's our Gary Breen and we all dream of a team of Gary Breen's. No-one I've seen come in for him has done as decent a job.

i firmly believe that Timmy is only held back by him being nervous on the field, he has all the attributes to be outstanding but invariably holds onto the ball to long or over-solo's beacuse he is afraid to shoot or lay off a pass, whenever he is forced to play instinctively he does very well. Good point on his all ireland finals record, had a great game at midfield in 99 and overpowered tommy walsh in 2004

Maybe sometimes he should play the ball into the full forward line instead of trying to run the length of the field with it, that way Joe Deane might have a chance of getting the odd score or two.

I think I'm one of the few supporters who give him a chance. A lot of his critics just watch the matches on tv and don't see all the work he does off the ball. He gets a lot of undeserved stick imo. He's an amateur at the end of the day, he always goes out and does his best. I wouldn't ask anymore.

2006 is destined to be the year of Niall Fitz.
