The midfielder was stretchered off just before half time after suddenly going to ground after appearing to twist his foot/ankle. He was clearly in pain while receiving treatment but he did emerge to watch the second half from the dugout.

Speaking after today's match Rafa said: "We have no news now. We will do x-ray scans tomorrow. We have to wait.

"I think he will have a chance (on making the final) but at this moment we have to wait. Tomorrow we will have more information."

fucking balls, hope its not too serious

I wish to fuck there was an English Premier League Forum, or else if feens would recogise that as this is a SPORTS forum, that in Spain, as well as all over Europe, if you mention "Alonso" in a sporting context, (like on a SPORTS forum) the de facto assumption of most SPORTS fans would be that you are referring to Fernando Alonso, current Formula One World Champion, and not some fucking soccer player.

Rant over.

(And after yesterday's result, it's definitely game on for the championship, especially since Ferrari turned Renault over again, for the second time in a row.)

Well I suppose if ice-skating is a sport then so too is racing.

Then again, is wrestling a sport?

Well, if Soccer is a sport, then so too is F1.

Super fit athletes who work out every day, work with their team mates to compete against other super fit athletes every second weekend. They depend on the quality of their equipment and the tactical awareness of their team managers to win and finish top of the league at the end of the season.

That is why Formula One attracts as many viewers to their TV screens annually as a Soccer World Cup which happens only once every four years.

Soccer fans may also like to reflect on the Brazilian soccer team's poignant remembrance of Ayrton Senna after they won the Soccer World Cup in 1994, and their recognition that he was Brazil's greatest ever sportsman, on a par with Pele.

So in summary, the collective talents of the world champions of soccer in 1994, the Brazilian Team, dedicated their victory to Formula One Legend Ayrton Senna.

But obviously, the EPL followers on this "sports" forum are better informed about sports then soccer players of the calibre of Taffarel, Romario, and Ronaldo.

I am not saying that one sport is better then another, but Formula One is the pinnacle of Motor Sport, and is such is on a par with soccer. And I know that the vast majority of contributors to this forum seem to be obsessed with Sky Sports, so I can only assume that this "sports" forum with it's average numbers viewing of 93 is not in the least bit representative of Cork sports fans.

Oh, and by the way, the total attendance at the Nurburgring for the European Grand Prix at the weekend was 320,000 paying sports fans.

I'd say that is about on a par with the total attendance at EPL fixtures over the weekend.

Sham,

How many of those spectators went racing over the weekend with their local pub team?

Alcohol and motor sports don't normally mix.

But a lot of feens were up in Watergrasshill karting and down in Killarney at the Rally a few weeks ago.

More people took part in GAA this weekend than went carting.

I'm not downing the sport, I just think your justification of it is tenuous to say the least.

Watched the highlights on football first last night.Alonso walked to the dugout after he got changed so hopefully he ll be fit for saturday.Already missing Garcia, whose always a good bet for a goal on a big occasion and fowler whose cup tied.Cup finals are on the day so I wouldnt be overly confident.Remember wimbledon in 1988!!

OK, so Alonso got a better start, and his car may have the edge, but the Ferrari pitcrew showed their mettle again when the pressure was on yesterday. Plus Schumi's ability to rattle off fastest laps when it really matters, completed the victory yesterday.

Should be an interesting season, but already I think we can rule out McLaren Mercedes as being a credible force.
