Have bought a new car so am putting my current Focus up for sale. This is a 2000 model 1.6L saloon, finished in metallic silver. Being the top of the range Ghia trim it is well appointed and features electric heated mirrors, front electric windows, air conditioning, CD player, leather and wood trim (well, imitation anyway!), power steering, etc. etc. She has clocked up 61500 miles and is an absolute joy to drive, handling very well. The engine is far better than the much more common 1.4L which simply ain’t up to the job of pulling an 1100 kg car.
I had her NCTed a few days ago and she is certified all the way to June 2008. I am having her serviced this week and am getting the works done: oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, sparks, brake pads and brake discs. Therefore, she will be ready to drive away needing absolutely nothing done until the next service, which will only be an oil change – you won’t find too many cars out there with all this done!
My history with the car:
Bought December 2004 from a garage (having just been serviced) with approx. 46000 miles on the clock and fitted with a full set of new Michelin Energy tyres. I have no service history prior to then – sorry! Link rods changed (under warranty) at approx. 49000 miles. Two wheel bolts replaced at approx. 51000 miles as I managed to shear them when changing wheel (garage had cross threaded them – grrr!). Serviced at 55000 miles. Tyres changed front to rear at approx. 58000 miles. Gear change return spring replaced at approx. 59000 miles (well known Focus issue). Full service as detailed above being done this Friday. Receipts available for most of this. There is a fair bit of tread left in the tyres – will measure this tonight.
The bad news:
She’s nearly six years old so naturally there are some very minor scratches, swirl marks etc. on the paint work, as you would expect on any car of this age. There is also a graze on the driver’s side rear bumper (where a building reversed into me - will put up a photo of this). Four or five of the heating elements in the rear window do not work (was like this when I bought it). They’re spread evenly throughout the window though, so it doesn’t really affect demisting. That’s it really.
Price: €7450. Inspections are more than welcome, as are test drives, but I will need you to temporarily transfer your insurance to my car (should be no problem). I am based near Cork. Questions? You can post here, PM me or email me at corkfocus(at)hotmail .com.
Apologies for the lack of pictures at the moment – I will try to take them tonight and post them tomorrow.
