Not really. It's the UEFA cup. Any team with serious domestic aspirations tends to treat the UEFA cup as a lower priority. Given Roma's recent run I'm sure they have their eyes on qualifying for the champions league through Serie A.

It's a great result for them, Uefa cup or not. If it were Intertoto it would be a great result.

Are Roma really all that anymore though?? Losing Cassano was a big thing for them, Totti is out for the season isnt he? I`m not too surprised by Boro beating them, at home anyway...

what a load of shit.

Its a fantastic result for boro against a Roma side that have won their last ten games.

Fair fucks to Boro.

I don't deny that it's a decent result for Boro. I watched it on Setanta and I was impressed with the way they approached the game. However, Roma were poor (and not just because Boro made them look poor). It wasn't an amazing surprise result because these results happen all the time in the UEFA cup.

Take it from a gambler and a follower of trends, unfancied teams do well in this competition. Here's a few other results from yesterday: Rapid Bucharest 2 - 0 Hamburg (8 points behind Bayern chasing a champions league place), Palermo 1 - 0 Schalke (chasing champions league place), Marseille (in contention for champions league place) 0 - 1 Zenit St Petersburg (not even playing league games at the moment). Believe me it's not that surprising. Remember who was in the final last year - CSKA Moscow and Sporting Lisbon.
