The Football Association has confirmed that Sven Goran Eriksson will leave his post as England coach after the World Cup finals.

Talks have been ongoing over Eriksson's future following recent newspaper allegations, which have led to question marks being raised over the Swede's future.

Eriksson's advisor Athole Still, accompanied his client, to Soho Square to meet with the FA's chief executive Brian Barwick and the association's compliance unit to discuss the implications of the recent newspaper sting which saw the England supremo make a number of disturbing comments.

Now following further talks on Monday evening - a deal has been agreed which will see Eriksson leave after this summer's tournament in Germany, no matter what the outcome is.

"The FA can confirm that Sven Goran Eriksson will leave his post as England head coach after the World Cup in Germany," said an FA statement.

"FA chief executive Brian Barwick reached agreement with Sven and his advisors after discussions today."

Barwick added: "The FA and Sven felt it was important to clarify his future. This is for the benefit of everyone connected with English football, especially the fans.

"There has been so much speculation surrounding this matter in recent weeks and months, it was important to resolve it now.

"This is the right outcome and I would like to thank Sven and his advisors for their tremendous co-operation.

"As I have said before, our main objective is giving Sven and the England team the best chance of achieving success at the World Cup.

"Sven is definitely the man to lead us in Germany.

"Now is the time for everyone to get behind the team as we prepare for a tournament that presents us with a genuine chance of success."

Previously Eriksson stated that he would remain after the World Cup, given that he still has a contract until 2008 - but now it is confirmed that England will have a new coach in place for the start of their Euro 2008 qualifiers later this year.

Great! We have a bloke trying to win us the World Cup who knows he pissing off either way a week after!

Typical F.A. - no passion or balls to make a brave decision and change manager before the tournament.

There was a review of the united fixated tabloid boss Piers Morgans book recently in United fanzine UWS where they showed excerpts from Piers diary round the time of the Stam thing

Piers and his paper got an exclusive serialisation of the book, which he immediately knew would mean Stams days were numbered.

He ran the tapping up story straight away causing Stam to panick and try to get it all pulled, whereupon he was told to fuck himself, cause Piers was an "Arsenal fan and wanted to win the league"

Fergie went mad, Stam went and Arsenal chairman (and important FA figure) David Dein rings Piers and laughs down the phone
'This is great if you have any books on Roy Keane or Paul Scholes let me know"

Unreal
that's what it's all about for the tabloids!
