I'll give it 2 stars. So, that means wait til it inevitably appears on TV (the BBC funded it) rather than shelling out to go and see it at the cinema.

The film is a sort of 'making of' of the story of Tristram Shandy, except that no film was made. It loses direction because it gets stuck between trying to be a drama and being a comedy. Sure, there are some good one liners and visual gags, but it isn't funny enough to carry itself as a comedy. The storyline is too weak for it to be a drama.

That said, it wouldn't be a waste of 90 minutes of anyone's life to watch it, but you may value your €8.50 more highly.

Thanks for that.
The UK reviews were an index of superlatives, but they always seem to do that with their own movies.

I liked it. The storyline was a bit weak in parts and they could've developed the characters a bit more but jesus I was crackin up throughout it. The hot chesnut bit nearly killed me. "Your feelers are in my asshole!"

A cock and bull story...

I thought this was a 'witty' title for a review of Brokeback Mountain.

You yanks. I bet it won't even get released there...
