From SkySports.com
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has refused to condemn Gary Neville's celebrations of Manchester United's winner at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Rio Ferdinand's late header sparked jubilant scenes amongst the home side with Neville aiming his explosion of joy towards the away fans' corner of the ground, after being barracked by the travelling Reds supporters.
Although hinting he felt his England colleague 'overstepped the mark', Carragher accepted Liverpool would also have celebrated wildly if they had secured the three points from a tight encounter.
"Obviously it was a big game with big rivalry," he told Sky Sports News.
"It means a lot to them and means a lot to us.
"If we'd have won with a last minute goal, I'm sure we would have celebrated. Maybe not gone that far, but it's a big game and there's no sour grapes from us or nothing.
"Good luck to them.
"He does [enjoy it]. He's a big United fan as I am [of] Liverpool.
"Sometimes you've got to be careful, though, as you can overstep the mark at times."
However, the centre back had some harsher words in Monday's edition of the Liverpool Echo.
"I think there is a line and Neville crossed it," he said. "I've heard people say it's justified because he gets a lot of stick from the Liverpool fans, but the truth is he gets the stick because he's been doing that for years.
"That's why it all started."
Carragher produced another polished display at the heart of the Liverpool defence but was powerless to prevent Ferdinand netting the dramatic winner in the closing stages of the game.
Whatever happened to Rio being shit in the air?

1. Please explain why you think Carragher is two-faced? If there's justification for such a viewpoint in the article you pasted I fail to see it
2. Rio, for his height, is often beaten in the air when he shouldn't be (by smaller attackers or often when he tried to play it away with his feet when he should just put his head on it and get it away). This is probably due to lack of concentration as much as anything else. He has good technique so its no wonder that he popped up with such a great header when (sadly) pretty much unmarked. I don't think anyone said he was sh1t in the air though to be fair.

Yeah they did - see posts about Duncan, Man City game.
Secondly this was a piss take.
Thirdly - saying one thing to one reporter and another to Liverpool Local press to sit well with the Scouser Support is what I would deem two faced.
Who was picking up Rio when the cross came in?
I honestly can't remember.

2 Faced in that he criticises Neville for reacting to and taunting the crowd..
..meanwhile Carragher a couple of years ago reacts to the crowd at Arsenal by slinging a coin with a fair bit of venom back at the crowd, ..and got off fairly lightly for it too as far as i can remember

Carra was hit by a coin thrown from close range by a fan and, foolishly, reacted by tossing it back (with little venom to be fair) into the crowd.
Neville decided, rather than celebrate with his team-mates, to run half the length of the field to taunt liverpool fans. Childish and small-time, typical of that short-arse cnut.
Carra served his ban and has every right to give his opinion on the oompa lumpa's antics. I'd love to leave the two of them alone in a room for 5 minutes. Carra would destroy him esp. as Neville doesn't have his minder around to fight his corner.

football is gone far too PC now,if a fella can't celebrate the winning goal in the last minute against his teams greatest rivals with a little taunting, then it truly has become a sport for poofs.

I hate the cunt but i can honestly say i'd react the same way if i was in his boots. Fowler holding up his hand (5 times) to the united fans is commended on merseyside and received more than a chuckle from myself. Go for it Dot Cotton but what goes around comes around...,..... you CUNT!

Boo Hoo, Gary Neville cleebrated in front of the Pool supporters, Boo hoo.
I can't believe you complaining about that. He hates Liverpool with a passion which in my opinion is great to see in a United player.

Unlike Fowler, Neville has won the European cup.

Exactly,he shat himself in the tunnel last season when Viera was getting stuck in to him and ended up hiding behind keane. Its obviously still killing him that LFC won a fifth European Cup last may.

Incidentally, Henry's assist total this season is utter gash...!

Carragher has about 4 in his whole career. Hyypia goes up for the corners. Carra looks after all the defending stuff.
Say it with me -DEFENDING. Hence, why I referred to Terry when talking about a goal scoring centre half. How many has Rio in his career for Utd?

Bullsh1t and you know it. For any attacking player the amounts of assists they get is a valuable metric for measuring their contribution. Tackles made or shots blocked are far less relevant for a striker but don't try to make out that a strikers sole purpose is to score goals (in order to push RVN's case) - in the modern game you have to contribute more than that.

Me too - but I was told to look at Terrys goalscoring.
This season they both have the same.
I don't see why a defenders goalscoring record should matter at all.

You brought up the goalscoring thing not me.
Personally I couldn't give a shit how many goals he scores.
You were on here saying how defenders were for defending, midfielders for setting up goals.
To be honest I like people who can do both, that is why it is vital your wing backs get up the pitch and support the attack and even your centre half to see space and either run in to it, draw the man and lay the ball off hence setting up attacks.

Your argument makes sense but personally I don't think a striker needs to do both (in comparisons it is a fair argument) if he is excelling brilliantly in the other from chances created by others.
Hence Rooney, goalscoring not that brilliant but rakes in the assists as well.

Besides a header from a corner (by a centre-half!) in injury time United* had practically no chances in the entire match. Liverpool did manufacture a number of chances but due to a combination of good defending and poor finishing failed to make them count.
If any strikeforce, on the day, was underperforming it was United's
* - that's with a strikeforce being mooted as being the best in the world (for the record I don't thats far from the truth. They are a great pairing & Rooney is scarilly only going to get better)

A little of column A and a little of column B. My mate Rio had a decent game on Sunday. But I've loft patience with that useless French cunt we have upfront. He can take his stupid haircuts and fuck right off. Missing an open goal in a match like that with no keeper is indefensible.

Rooney had a super game.
Ruud was out of it in large proportions but Rooney was probably the best player on the pitch.
As for Ruud - he still created one good chance outta nothing and slipped when he could have done better from a giggs through ball, both decent half chances even though I thought he was out of it.

Indeed he was. But it was so bad as to be beside the point, hence nobody here (or in the media) seems to be mentioning the fact. At any rate, play hadn't been halted at that point, so as far as he (and the defence) were concerned, it wasn't offside. The call was made afterwards; As such it doesn't spare him any blushes.
I don't think that Cissé is utter gash by a long way, but at 14.5m he has to go down as yet another vastly overpriced slice of Houllier's transfer-market genius.

Rafa may like the beanpole & midget with flair approach.
