It just means Liverpool will now finish 3 points further behind Chelski in second place at the end of the season and nothing more than that.
Today's result was just for bragging rights in the North West. Realistically Chelsea are already champions and we can just concentrate now on retaining the Champions League again.
United may grab a domestic cup if they are lucky!

It was a terrible game until the last 10 mins. Rooney looked like the only player who would score. Fletcher gave the ball away so many times it was embarassing for him. A really top class team would have finished off United.

Liverpool should have finished them off. I am pissed off that we have only managed to get one point this season off the worse United team the Premiership has seen.
Still, in the grand scheme of things this game means fuck all as the league title was over at Christmas. It will just give us the kick up the arse we need after a few shaky games recently.

Kromkamp gave away the free, hence Finnan giving him abuse. That has to go down to a bad decision from Rafa to bring him on. I give Rio a lot of grief at the best of times but he was decent today. He was up against pace in Cisse but matched and exceeded him. It was nip and tuck other wise with both sides having periods of dominance. Kudos to Mike Riley today for letting the game flow, I didn't think he was capable of it. In fact, most refs would have booked Gerrard earlier- and rightly so. My instinct of a tight game was correct. If it had ended a draw I would have been on here talking about Liverpool just shading it but that is bollocks really. You have to put sides away and if you are punished for not doing so, you can have no complaints.
A bad game between two sides with no cutting edge.

i think it says it all that i, salt of the earth that i am, switched over to the D4 lot aginst bath. from what i saw in the united-pool, it was the usual "cancel each other out" excuse, which in reality is nothing more than these players are overhyped to begin with. if liverpool had united's strikeforce they'd be challenging for the title now. cisse is division one standard at best. Rio had his customary one good game in 5, which should set him up nicely for a month or so. very poor game for the neutral, perfect result for chelsea

Good result
When i saw that Smith was out again i feared the worst but United's makeshift midfield at least put Liverpool on the back foot a few times and even when Liverpool got on top the defense was solid.
Evra suddenly looked a bit more like the real deal, very good going forward, while Brown and Rio were excellent. Ferdinand has actually been playing really well lately but sometimes people who don't watch matches judge him on his well publicised gaffes.
Hard luck to all the genuine Liverpool fans.
I'm sure some of the sunshine fucktards will quiten down a bit but every team has them. They should remember that no matter how bad things are it's still Manchester United they are playing and they should never be written off.
I refuse to look at a battle for second as anything significant, United should only be judged against first, and 14 points or whatever is simply not good enough. The midfield strengthening during the summer is now so important. but we knew that anyway.
Overall, not bad considering there was no Ronaldo, Scholes, Smith or Park

On Evra - he is poor enough positioning wise. One time in first half he was caught ball watching and if StevieG had gotten a better ball he'd have been in behind him. His crossing was poor but a lot of that could be down to the poor pitch. He looks very good going forward but needs work on the defensive side of things. It'll come hopefully - he looks a good prospect.
I agree with you on 2nd thing but I'd still rather automatic qualification so hoepfully we'll put a good run together and beat Chelsea at the bridge.
We need two central midfielders badly. One to start and one for squad.
Think that was the worst midfield we put out all year.
3 players outta position at start. Striker on Right, Left Winger in the middle in second half.
Rio had a great game at the back but it was a defender's game and both Liverpool centre halfs performed very well as well.

Would have been a crushing disappoinment for United had we drawn yesterday. Yes, we've beaten Chelsea, which is great, but three 0-0's against Liverpool and Gooners would have been serious slippage.

Feguson - Achieved a lot, to get there again a lot more to do.
I think realistic fans of both sides realise that they are a bit off yet and that purchases are needed in key areas.
The pool would do well to make a move for Mikey Owen this Summer whereas every dog in the street knows where United need to improve.
Chelsea are consistently efficient but are far from a brilliant side.
With a bit of work these two teams shouldn't be far off them next season.

The game itself was poor, which isnt really surprising is it, we`ve become quite used to it at this stage.
The result however I will have to say was a little unjustified, both teams had their periods of dominance but if you dont take your chances you are leaving yourself open to be punished. Unfortunatley for Liverpool thats what happened them yesterday. I feel that the best way to sum these two teams up is that both are 2/3 players short of really taking it to Chelsea next year, and for the sake of the Premiership I hope both clubs make those acquisitions over the summer.

Yip fair point.
I think the Pool were probably the better team overall by not by much.
It was another poor game but better than the last one.
On United Midfield Point - not that bad at full strength, like pool strikeforce not good enough to win league, but that was the worst midfield we've had all season.
I was really worried going into the game.

United lost very similar games to this courtesy of Danny Murphy a few times so you gotta take what you can get.
From Liverpools perspective it should make the two games against Arsenal more interesting
United need to keep concentrating and try to get within a more respectable reach of Chelsea

Yes, but I meant in the context of the season. Last year, as awful as we were, we still took 12 points of your lot and the arse. Not beating the gooners a few weeks back was a massive disappointment, to fail to win this would have been a killer.

Pretty even game I thought, united had the better of it after Cisse missed the miss of all misses!
Was happy with Evra, although he did waste a few balls he gives great support to attack, which Richardson benefitted from.Brown was his usual outstandng self and even the Fraudster was there to clear off the line and grab the winner.Rooney was excellent,Ruud off the boil, saha did well but wasted a couple of balls,Giggs had his best game in a while.Midfield did well, considering scholes was missing,i guess you could say it was
AS GOOD AS IT GETS...
Mistake by Rafa bringing on Kromkamp with 5 to go,as was leaving on Cisse, but c'est la vie.
