Isn't it time that the city council or the Cork 2005 committee got rid of the flags which adorn the lamp posts on Patrick street and other parts of the city centre?
I means it's all over now at this stage and nobody has particularly fond memories of the 12 months which were a total non event in my view. Even the closing fireworks drew a crowd of less than 100 to the city centre (to be fair the weather was poor)

Also while they're at it could they take down the christmas lights this year?
Last year they had the inspired idea to leave the little star shaped lights up for the entire 12 months.

Cork 2005 is over. Pleas help us forget that it ever happened!

Those limp and bedraggled flags are a fitting legacy to the year

I say they should replace them with names and pictures of famous Cork inhabitants.
Have Mick Collins, Terence McSwiney, Jack Lynch, Peadar O'Laoire, Christy Ring, etc... on there. Keep it Cork like.

Or summat like that...

...you've got to give them respect for the forethought of printing the flags with a special paint that faded to almost unreadability by the 31st of December 2005.

Now that must have cost a bit....

6 weeks into the new year . I suppose that's fairly efficient as the city council goes. Is the old Cork 2005 shop in Patrick Street (where Duffys Chemist once occupied) still decorated with the offical merchandise or have they painted it over by now?
