Just to let everyone know that there will be another upgrade of Broadband speeds beginning next weekend. This only applies to ADSL fixed line customers (Eircom, Strencom, Netsource,... and any other ISP's that piggy back off Eircoms infrastructure). No doubt all other ISP's will follow suit.
Here is what you can expect:
1Mbps down / 128Kbps up --UPGRADING TO--- > 2Mbps down / 256Kbps up
2MBps down / 128Kbps up --UPGRADING TO--- > 4Mbps down / 256Kbps up
3MBps down / 256Kbps up --UPGRADING TO--- > 4Mbps down / 512Kbps up
4MBps down / 256Kbps up --UPGRADING TO--- > 5MBps down / 512KBps up

The day that Amocom increases their speed I'll eat my hat.
Theyre the only broadband providers where I am, and even though Eircom have increased their speed twice now, Amocom still havnet. Im on 512/256. And they've ignored all the emails Ive sent them about it.

I hope so. Im on UTV too and the last time eircom did an upgrade my speed went up, so hopefully it should happen again this time.

Theyre the right rates alright for a 1Mbps connection. If you divide those numbers by 8 you'll see the rates that you usually get when you download files, which are given in kilobytes per second, not kilobits.

Aren't UTV just reselling eircom bandwidth, same as BT?
If so, then yes, last time Eircom increased the same happened for BT users.

Yeah UTV are being upgraded too.
The upgrades have started now in Dublin, so hopefully by the morning the Cork connections will have been upgraded. (eircom, EsatBT (IOL), UTV, etc..)

That looks like an ODD combination! Have you an SMC router? If so upgrade the firmware and it should give you a better reading.

5 gigs down today.
Have a queue a mile long though,
so the machine will be staying on for the next few days.
