No offense to them but the guy is a fantastic player and you would think he'd be at one of the biggest clubs in the world by now

not even a sniff about him moving on either in january
maybe after the world cup ?

Villareal aren't a bad team to be playing with they build things round him
A lot of the other big teams have similar players playing where he likes to run things but i'd say he could go after the World Cup alright

Similar to Veron IMO. While Veron was shite and did not fit into the system at United i feel Requelme was in a similar situation at Barcelona.

Veron is now back to his best at Inter and Riquelme has gotten back to his old self since leaving Barca for Villereal.

The only question i have though is this.

Is the manager of a top class team going to take a chance on buying him when flopped at Barca?

I dont see him ever playing in England as i feel the game would not suit him (similar to Veron). Maybe Italy mainly due to the slower pace and more time on the ball.

Totally agree with you there he wouldn't suit English soccer at all.
Same as I'm unsure if Aimar would reproduce the same magic in England that he does in Spain.

Maybe he likes it there. Maybe he likes the club and the fans and maybe he thinks it might be more important to be a big part of 30,000 people's lives than a mini part of 100,000 people's lives.

I think flop is a bit tough because he was very young at Barca. Similar to Saviola I think in that they weren't suited to massive clubs. Maybe the smaller club suits him.

I've been raving about Riquelme for years, ..saw him playing for Boca Juniors in Argentina in 2000, a week after Boca beat Real Madrid in Tokyo on the back of winning numerous Argentine championships and Copa Libertadores. he was twice argentine player of the year.

disappointed he wasn't selected for the 2002 World Cup squad, when Veron and Ortega were chosen ahead of him as creative midfielders and he was poor at a bad Barcelona side in 2003 before getting the elbow to make way for Ronaldinho under Laportas arrival.

hopefully he will be magic at the summers world cup.
