It is December and the day of judgement is almost upon us. As Cork's tenure as European Capital of Culture comes to a close, how do YOU think it has faired? Do you believed it has been a disaster never to be spoken of again after 2005? Do you believe it has been a cultural masterpiece that has captured the imagination of the Cork people? Are you undecided and feel you still need persuading? Whatever your views, The Big Culture debate is THE place to have your say....

The UCC Philosophical Society is hosting a special debate on the motion:

"That this house believes the capital of culture has failed."

Speaking on this motion we are proud to present:

Proposition: Mick Hannigan, Director of the Cork Film Festival, Owner of Kino Cinema and Wheresmeculture member. (and all round legend)

Opposition: Andrea Kennedy, Co-Owner of Club One, Kick-ass Cork DJ, also Wheresmeculture member(this could get interesting!)

The evening will commence at 7:30pm in G19, Kane (Science Building) in UCC with a floor debate on a different topic. The main debate commences at 8:30pm.
The motion will be opened to the floor after the speakers have made their case so I urge you to come along if you believe in free speech, have something you feel needs to be said about the capital of culture, or just plain feel like a public rant!

The event will be followed by a social in the Old Bar UCC.

So, for what will be a truly interesting, heated debate and a fine reflection on the year Cork has had come along to G19, Kane Building, UCC at 7:30 tonight, Monday December 5th and have your say!

Hope to see you there, and bring a friend!

Emer Harrington,
UCC Philosophical Society 156th Session.
