Alan Curbishley has reportedly been asked to replace Alex McLeish as Rangers' manager.
The Daily Mirror claims that the Scottish giants 'have given Alan Curbishley 48 hours to decide if he wants to quit Charlton and become the next Ibrox boss in a deal worth about £2 million-a-year. He was also promised cash to spend on players.'
Rangers have endured a torrid start to the new campaign and trail arch-rivals Celtic by 12 points.
Chairman David Murray gave McLeish a public vote of confidence on Monday, stating "Although we fully recognise we're going through a difficult period, we collectively felt the manager should be given the opportunity to improve our overall current performance, given the success of his career thus far."
However, The Mirror reckons that 'there is frantic activity behind the scenes to line up a replacement ready to step in.'
Should Curbishley reject the Gers' offer, 'David Moyes will be the leading contender for the post.
'Moyes played for Celtic as a teenager but comes from a Rangers-supporting family. His father was a top scout for the club and the Moyes home was used as digs for up-and-coming players. Murray has been impressed by Moyes's work and ability to organise since he took the helm at Goodison Park in March 2002.'
If Curbishley, or Moyes, accepts the reported offer from Rangers it would be the first managerial change in the Premiership this season
