Does anyone know where I can get some clips of hurling on the internet. I've found a few on some rebel GAA forum but there not great, just a few pictures of points from the 2004 final.

I've been trying to explain to some people over here in Hungary (Germans, Swedes and Englanders) what hurling is all about, but it seems impossible to find any decent info or clips on the net. Does anyone know why there is no effort made to promote it outside of Ireland and the Irish community abroad. Surely Hurling deserves to be promoted as a tourist attraction as much as our great musicians and writers. I mean, look at some of the bullshit games that we take notice of from other countries (curling, hockey, handball, cricket). Is there some feeling that no citizen of any other nation is worthy of picking up "an camán draoichta".

I live in Holland and all the GAA clubs here are very football-centric. I suppose that makes sense considering how much more popular football is in Ireland as a whole, but it is annoying.

http://www.newtownshandrum. com seems a pretty good site. Not sure if the video clips are any better than the RebelGAA ones though

Also from a financial view point its cheaper to run a football club than a hurling club.

Only have to buy a few balls and yer set.

Brought back 6 hurleys through JFK 5 years ago, got daft looks by everyone.

we used the hurleys on the nepal/tibet border to befriend a border guard. She loved the things! Still wouldn't leave our chinese mate across though!

Get on www.setanta.tv
