but RVN is a different type of player as is evident in the fact that he has never scroed outside the box

I agree....Ruud is great goal scorer but Henry is different class...put him outwide nad he'll do a job for you, play him in the hole, his skill, speed and balance would be frightening.
Imagine him playing behind Ruud??!!
But in terms of the comparison question, can you imagine Ruud being nominated for European/World player.......great player but Henry is special, different class.
And I am a United fan, who remembers the goal Henry scored against Schmeichael for France v. Denmark at Euro 2000, Schmeichael didn't even move Henry curled it round him into the bottom corner......sheer class.

This 'Ruud never scored from outside the box' lark really bugs the shit out of me. How often does he try? I cant think of many occasions he's had a shot from more than 18 yards. Anyway his 1st goal for Holland was a screamer from bout 30 yards. Hit it 1st time & left the keeper rooted to the spot.
You hear very little comments on how Henry hardly ever scores with his head. Took him over 3 years to manage it. Not his game heading the ball. Just as it isnt's RVN's to shoot from outside the box.
As for who's better it's hard to say. Different types of strikers. The same way as a United supporter I cant decide who is the more important midfielder to the team Keane or Scholes. Both have different roles. Still they get the job done. My belief is however that Arsenal would have won the European Cup last season if RVN played for them because they dont have a goal poacher & Ruud is the best poacher around.

I personally think Tony Cascarino was better than the both of them.
That sitter he missed against Rangers in an old firm game always springs to mind, his close control was second to none, and that lighting pace his processed was breathtaking to watch.

That would be pointless because when on the way to breaking the Prem record for consecutive scoring apperances (10 games I think) Mr Beckham was sitting on the bench for large parts of it.
Funnily enough Ruud broke his own record that season. He scored in 8 consecutive games during december 01 & january 02. I seem to recall a certain International skipper making headlines for planking his ass next to Carroll, Phil Neville & co around that time as well.

Might have something to do with having a couple of long terms injuries- his goals per game ratio has hardly altered, Beckham was gash for his last two season, and his assist rate had dropped considerably in that time. Also, I must have imagined Ruud boy scoring a hatful in the Champions League again this season.

Henry is a much better all-round player, but Ruud is a better goal poacher. You can't really compare the 2, but given a choice between the 2 I'd pick Henry every time.
