Ok over the last two days we have put in shit loads of work and i think the following is a fucking disgrace.
First off yesterday our auditor, deirdre was selling hoodies and t-shirts, the profit of which goes to the t-sunami fund. While selling a t-shirt to someone she got her wallet stolen. It was definatley someone who bought a t-shirt as only people we know were at that side of the stage.
Today it got worse. We had a brand new Vestax 06 at the side of the stage in case anyone wanted to use it. Some scumbag decided to steal the peice of equipent. What makes it even worse is it was either one of the DJ's that entered or a friend of theirs, as they were the onmly people at that side of the stage
We dont put this comp on to make money, we do it to have some fun, provide entertainemnt and give DJ's a chance.
If anyone knows any information about the mixer please talk to one of us, or PM myself or drew.

Hey was just reading this thread, wow what a lousy thing to do...
I can't believe someone would have the neck to do that and without being seen!! I hope they have absolutely no luck for this and they prob will never succeed as a dj only as a theif!! Best of luck to every honest person involved though....

Someone has to know something. The cctv camera would be def worth checking out, and also the video camera which one of the society dj's was using to record the competition. I was only thinking at the comp that i'd love to have a synth keyboard at the comp, but i just realised that its very easily to leave your guard down at an event which makes you feel so happy, and ecstatic. I really enjoyed the comp, the atmosphere was so contagious. I never expected a dj battle in a college to be so good. Sometimes when you feel so positive, mentally, you forget to think a bit negatively like, thinking that someone scumbag cold steal your equipment. This is an example where negative thinking can be a real postive thing. I believe in the balance of good & evil, happiness and sadness, and if you really have a great time for a long time, theres always something that will bring you down afterwards. In future my advice to ye is too, be more careful where u leave the equipment/posessions in a crowded area. Like the box of shirts/hoodies. That sould have been put in the corner. I remember a fella actually sat down on it yesterday, not releasing it was open box, and fell straight into it! its a pity that you cant fucking trust anyone in this world.
I just dont understand the thoughts of the people who steal that. They obviously dont empathise with other people, and think "what if someone did that to me?" I dont know how they can ignore their conscience like that.

Or something to that effect.

drew, with such an outgoing nature,is it really such a surprise that people wouldnt feel bad about stealing from you?this to go along with threatening people in the bass nights(oh yes,YOU may not remember it,but not everyone forgets)
and DESPITE my saying the djsoc should be scratched into the faceplate of each mixer, and the faceplate(or bottom circle, which is also the faceplate)of the decks,NONE of the equipment had ANY symbol on them at ALL?a small bit of effort, for a fair bit of cash.
then again, nobody expected somebody to steal...
marker sparker was closer to the point with saying what he said,though...

What a balls - hope you get it back. This stuff goes on all the time - from coats and wallets to just half empty beers.. We had a load of t-shirts taken from our stall in the Opera House on New Year's Eve as well.

still though, lot of effort to steal 8 kegs...

To be honest I'm always fecking things. Mostly from supermarkets , music stores, houses , English market(too easy) , well thats all really. In pubs too.Especially at closing time , very easy to feck stuff from behind most counters, with everyone cleaning and just glad the rush is over. Also from people in pubs, mainly women, they always leave their bags lying about with camera's and wallets. At weekends the girls are so drunk you have enough time to search the bag and take what you want.Pick-pocket a few fella's in bars the odd time.Again at the weekends, just look for a drunkard splashing the cash and talking to some moth, easy money. In truth its too easy, especially at weekends with people so drunk, they don't even miss the money.I robbed my housemate one night, took 50 yoyo out of her bag.She actually thought she must have drank 100 yoyo,.In fact she was convinced she had a mad night and all because she was short of cash in the morning, not a clue like...!!!!
Never took a dj box. This actually sounds like an inside job.

to be honest(and im not trying to cause trouble,or have "digs" or "bitch")in my opinion,it was an inside job too.i just dont think anyone outside of the competitors/dj's present would have bothered(its pretty big) but the most important thing is that,as you said,"dj box"...people wouldnt find much of a use for it,or know where to get rid of it to...

i dunno midletonman...i have NO idea who decided they'd take it,and had no thoughts about who would use it.cant be someone who used it much,if at all(then again,it's new enough)...
so that leaves....contestant s/contestants friends.of which there can only be around 30.now,THAT doesnt really help either, but if each contestant were questioned,POSSIBLY one may have seen something...all could be asked if they knew who moved the equipment on the given day...
i dunno.
i wasnt even in the bar,aside for a 5minute interval around five,so to be honest,i know nothing.not a thing.
but i WILL say that people wouldnt take the chance on stealing such a big object unless they knew it was worth it?

31-01-2005, 06:25 PM
thats the thing ya, its not a piece of gear you can just stuff up your jumper like. there was a good load of people over there that day as far as i remember. for a normal house or techno dj though its not that useful a piece of gear. for generally mixing its a dose cos the channels cut in so sharply
midletonman
31-01-2005, 06:28 PM
for a normal house or techno dj though its not that useful a piece of gear.
phew...that rules us out rocky....
less of the messing-seriously-someone had to have put it in a bag,but its not that big.a record bag would have fit it and the majority of competitors only had about 10 records in their bags.
rocky black
31-01-2005, 06:34 PM
i dunno would it fit in a record bag, its long enough like! its a chunky piece of gear as well like. ud need one of those huge bags like, the hernia ones like
midletonman
31-01-2005, 06:40 PM
the hernia sized ones eh.......MINE WAS FULL! everyone knows i always bring an uneeded amount of records...i dont know why but it'll hold up if this ever goes to court.....my amzing set included at least 75 records too so i definately didnt have room.....actually hold all this cos that was monday......hmmm

ah honestly,it HAS to have been one of the dj's,cos people would have noticed anyone else going at equipment.
EITHER WAY.
i will personally offer a bottle of vodka to the first person who comes up with a clear-cut definition of the person who took it,ie what they looked like, who they were...
two birds with one stone,i drink too much vodka as it is...
please dont point fingers hans especially on a public board AND if its got nothing to do with you at all

to be honest, you're right it HAS nothing to do with me.but if it has something to do with you(presumably)shoul dnt you be encouraging any effort to get the mixer back?dont understand where you're coming from.its one thing getting at me,its another completely to discourage talk on the matter.
pointing fingers-duly noted,fair enough.but...nah fuck it...mouth shut.no fingers pointed deliberately,and i'll leave it at that.

Bad form.
ive no need to justify what im doing to help the cause. im helping by trying to shut u up. ur always full of words all the time. ur the sort of person who has to get their word in as a lot know.
why did ian c log in when he never posted??
you obviously know you get under my skin, you use society equipment and do all the open decks, brilliant we encourage that but you show up at meetings and promise to do work for us but you do none, grand i can deal with that but at least just butt out of business cause your not helping at all.
i worded this badly cause im in de middle of class but the jist is there
BASICALLY your all talk, and very fuckin unappreciative of what the society has done for you

im not going to argue.just have your words and away with you.your opinion is yours, and if others also,so be it...it doesnt matter to me at all,in the long run.i barely know you(or most of the other people involved)its a shame you feel that way,but at least i know whats "under your skin",so to speak.for future reference,i didnt do it deliberately,if it cheers you up!
i dunno what ianc was doing...on q+2 on the four in a row computers...one post, and the PM's count as posts too,AFAIK,so no PM's either(presumably-im not THAT nasty!)
