Is anyone else sick to death of the moaners on this show including pat Kenny,we all know the country is knackered, but week after week they whinge about who's gonna do this for me or who's gonna do that for me,i swear its about time people started doing things for themselves, fuck the politicians and fuck the banks, get out there and start doing things for ourselves,we used to be known for our great work ethic and for earning a few bob, wheres all this entrepreneurship gone, the previous generation went out and worked for a few pound, but done enough to survive,we really need to get that back and forget about and leave the greed of the Celtic tiger behind us.

I think it's a decent forum. People on it arguing along the lines you are there, as well as whingers.

I do like the format of the show, but the guests seem to be either opposition politicians getting their digs in at the government or commentators/journalists who also tell us what went wrong, there's nobody giving any good solid positive advice and any time there is a government TD or minister on they don't seem to have anything positive to say, just self preserving bullshit

Repped.
Every politician justs toes the party line. The same conversation every week on the economy and the child abuse scandal but the right questions aren't being asked and no solutions are given. There was a discussion tonight on what should be done to make sure the child abuse featured in the murphy report doesn't happen again. The obvious answer is to make schools secular but this is too radical for Pat Kennys audience, and this wasn't mentioned.
There isn't enough straight talkers in Irish life. Regardless of what someones political opinion you have to respect honesty. Although I did enjoy Jack O Connor about a month ago making a fool of himself commented on economics, thats the only form of bullshit I find entertaining

All it is, is an excuse for Pat Kenny to be sarcastic, how can you get to the heart of any issue when opposition are busy squawking away and the government minister will not deviate from the pre-arranged questions and if Kenny goes off topic they just clam up, RTE has to grow a pair and insist that if the politicians want all that lovely free publicity they better be able to answer a straight question with a straight answer, but wait this is Ireland might as well wish for world peace and flying pigs.

I hate the whingers from "the disadvantaged" areas who talk about how they are being left behind bla bla bla. EVERYONE is being left behind at the moment but anything to get their 10 mins of fame and talk about how BAD they have it!

I partly agree. I think the show suits Pat Kenny and he's a decent chair of a debate and is well-informed. Several other RTE presenters are not as well briefed and as a result don't question politicians as closely.
I agree it is full of moaners but it's hard to be positive at the moment. The root of all the negativity is this: that the banks and people in government who caused the mess have got away with it and/or are still in power. If people were on trial and ending up in prison like Ray Burke and Liam Lawlor we would be able to put the negatives behind us and start fresh because justice must be seen to be done.
Cowen won't let the enquiry into the financial crisis happen because the trail leads to his front door. We all know it. FF know it. Anyone who saw Primetime last night would see that Cowen was next to Bertie on most occasions when he berated those who said the economy was on thin ice back around 2006.
The Frontline will continue to be rammed with justifiable moaning until the bad apples have been rooted out and either brought to justice or humiliated in some way. I'm no fan of the Evening Herald but I saw it in the shops earlier and it has got screengrabs of Primetime with Seánie Fitzpatrick running away from a reporter. Its crass and cheap but that's where we need to start to show other chancers that they will be humiliated like this if they take similar risks.
It gauls me to think that we will pay for their wrecklessness for the rest of our working lives. Fucking sick. At least if I knew they were chained to a wall somewhere I could swallow it.

If you listened to RTE radio all day, you would finish up in an asylum ... starts off with Morning Ireland, then Pat Kenny, then Joe Duffy, then Drivetime...look, I know we are in a desperate situation, but non-stop whinging and bitching will not get us out of the mess.
Keep the chin up.

great post fella,if the people went to the doors of these politicians and bankers and dragged them out on to the streets and hound them into answering our questions then we might get somewhere, sitting in a studio wallowing on whats happened is just depressing the whole country,

They need to have a public vs private sector debate on it for a change.
