Makes sense to curb the amount of people heading North. But will publicans and Stores play ball when it comes to passing on the cut? Will Lenihan cut it enough?
I'd say the stores will pass it on.
Publicans?
You've got to be joking.
They'll keep prices high, wonder why even more people are buying in the offie and then demand further restrictions on offie opening hours to bail them out.

true. I know of some pubs who can harge 3 euros a pint when it suits to bring in trade. And others who would rather close than do the same

was out last night, 3 pubs, soho, preachers, crane lane. pints were 4.75, 3.50 and 5.00 in that order.
scandalous, apart from preachers obviously. still going to be paying over the odds no matter what

Big difference alright. Like the way some pubs mainly in Dublin hike up the price when it gets to a certain time, it's a similar kind of thing.
I'm not sure who to blame. Do people ask for it if they keep going somewhere that's overpriced?
Are the Crane Lane's pricing policies justified because people are happy to go there and pay it?

Anybody who pays €5 for a pint in this day and age is being silly. The answer is simple: shop elsewhere, it's the only way these overcharging pubs will learn.
Same goes for petrol and diesel.
