"PopOffsets is unique - the first project in the world that, simply and transparently, enables individuals and organizations to offset their carbon footprint by funding the unmet need for family planning and the removal of the many barriers to women who want smaller families."

Yes, you too can have a holiday in the bahama's while offsetting your guilt to some poor familiy in Africa who wont have a kid

Next year i'll go to the cayman islands and offsett about 2 african kids.

this is what its come to - human beings as "offsets"..

i find the whole concept utterly disgusting morally.

if you cant see that, then you really REALLY need to re-examine what these folks are proposing.

Are you against family planning? Are you against contraception?
It's not sterilisation they are proposing.

Women without access to birth control or even the education required to control their own fertility are left in a weakened position all over the world.
So people take a trip on a plane, then donate to a charity that provides education and contraception to women who want and need it.
The "want" part here is obviously critical and administration would therefore need serious oversight, but isn't this the case for all contraceptive programs?

When you think about this logically I don't see any major issue here, though I can understand why the religious right wing conservative might see it as interfering with Gawwwd's will.

This is the first I've heard of the site or the group, so I know nothing about their credentials, but I don't really have a problem with the concept from a moral point of view.
