This handball outrage bandwagon is becoming a national embarrassment now.

Besides Clown Cullen writing to FIFA (what fucking right has he as an Irish minister to interfere with an how an organisation like that operates?????), we have the following:

In the Dáil, Fine Gael’s Alan Shatter said FIFA was "a deeply suspect organisation in the manner in which it does business and it is time for the European regulation of football."

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said the referee might have a future as a banking regulator, "turning the blind eye and deaf ear to complaints."

Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil senator and lawyer Lisa McDonald has advised Irish football chiefs to issue a writ against FIFA for negligence.

"If the governing body cannot find a way to offer Ireland a replay for a glaring technical error, then compensatory damages for loss of earnings will have to be sought by way of a law suit," the senator said

A writ for negligence like? It was a handball not seen by the ref. It is soccer and we dont go to the World Cup and that is the extent of the situation.

Co-sign my letter to Sepp Blatter now!

Dear Sepp Blatter,

I, along with millions of viewers last night, watched France cheat their way to the World Cup.The blatant handball and subsequent admission from Thierry Henry, the French captain, that his handling of the ball led to the goal, which knocked Ireland out of the competition, is a travesty for the highest ideals the World Cup represents.

Therefore I’m calling on you to hold a one off play-off for the final slot to the World Cup between Ireland and France at a neutral venue.
It’s the least we owe the thousands of devastated young fans around Ireland. For the dignity and integrity of football a replay must be played.
You have been often quoted in the past about FIFA’s role in ensuring fair play and proper sportsmanship. Here you have an opportunity to prove there is meaning behind these words and show children all over the world that in football those who cheat will not succeed.

Yours sincerely,

Dara Calleary TD, Minister of State

Its actually gone beyond a joke at this stage. You should see the Examiner this morning. The first 7 pages are devoted to this "story." and a few more in the sports section.

While the worst floods in decades after decimating half of Cork are tucked away on page 8 and 9.
