So basically ESPN is filling the gap it seems, new channel to open up rather than selling it via sky.
Not sure that this is gonna be any improvement for the consumer...except maybe they'll broadcast better quality than setanta, which looked like lego during the rugby matches on my telly. Watching heineken cup on sky was immeasurably better picture...
Speaking of which its obviously the small fry in this breakup but anyone heard where the magners league coverage will go?

Magners League matches will continue to be shown on BBC Cymru Wales and S4C until at least 2014.....
But Setanta International and Setanta Ireland have not entered administration and Setanta Ireland will cover broadcasting in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland....

I wouldn't bet on Magners/Bulmers being around much longer to sponsor it.

Not a clue...
Thankfully the landlord had the sense to get himself sorted with an Irish Sky card, and put a big flatscreen out in the garden so that even the smokers can see the game!

What about the live coverage of saturday 3:00PM kick offs that were Ireland only though? Will setanta still have the rights to those matches?

Broadcasters have now been invited to bid for the final package of rights formerly held by Setanta - for live Saturday 3pm kick-offs to be shown in Ireland next season

I'd love it if TV3 or RTÉ or somebody won those rights. Or even Sky Sports. Somebody that we already pay for, rather than having to sign up another subscription.

S4C should be on Sky 134

Setanta wins 3pm Premier League rights
Setanta Sports Ireland has announced that it has won the rights to broadcast 33 English Premier League games in the Republic of Ireland next season.
Setanta UK was forced into administration last month after it failed to meet payments to the English and Scottish premier leagues.
The closure of Setanta UK meant the loss of 200 jobs but Setanta Sports Ireland has continued to broadcast in the Republic where it employs 180 people.
AdvertisementChief executive Niall Cogley said the news would clear up any 'confusion' about the future of Setanta in Ireland and that subscribers would continue to receive to 'best value premium sports service in Ireland'.
