With the new Blasphemy Law coming into force soon, will the Green Party and Mullah Ahern be opening up branch offices with the other fundamentalist states such as Iran and Afghanistan ?
Whilst the Grrens may not approve of oil, they will no doubt be able to point to the faact that camels are an environmentally friendly means of transport.

.Today must be a proud day in the annals of the Green Party. Together with Mullah Ahern they have dealt freedom of speech in this country another blow by successfully seeing the Blasphelmy legislation through the Dail and into the Senate.
No doubt there will be rejoicing in the Taliban villages when they realise the cause of fundamentalism has such allies in Ireland !
What the international Green movement will make of it is another matter !
What next for the Greens ? Introducing concentration camps for re-educating the masses on environmentalism ?
It's a skill of his.
When he attacks the Greens, he does so with such intemperate language that even people who'd agree with his point won't touch the thread, while those who disagree say nothing, knowing that he's undermining his own apparent cause.
I stand by my theory that it's actually Dan Boyle trying to get some sympathy for the Green Party.

By the standards of the language which has been aimed at me on this site, e.g " shag off. fuck off," etc, my language is restrained !.
I am however persistent and focussed which tends to irritate political supports quite a lot. Another of my annoying traits from your point of view - and it really irritated Dan Boyle quite a lot - is i quote politicians words quite a lot, e.g :
The fact is we are neither going to change the world or be completely ineffectual. We are new to the business of government. In the early days we will be exposed as naive, we will make mistakes, but I'm confident that when we learn the ropes, quite quickly, we will be effective by your favourite politician Dan Boyle !
Well apparently the public didnt think so.
All economies are cyclical. Although the nature of politics does not allow us to indulge too much in the theoretical and the philosophical, debates such as this allow us to talk about what we mean by economic wealth, what it consists of and how and when it is measured. The normal economic indicators are such that we measure economic growth in certain ways. We measure all economic activity, whether negative or positive, within certain timeframes. If we were to measure the economy since the turn of the year, it would not be seen in a particularly positive light. If we measured it in the last ten years, it would be seen as one of the best performing in the world, but if we conducted the same measurement to cover the time from the foundation of the State until the mid-1990s, say, it would certainly not be much to write home about. On these terms, we see in our own political history how the economy has ebbed and flowed and how the matter has been dealt with by successive Governments of different political affiliations.
Again by Dan Boyle in the Senate.... I am afraid I have not idea what it means !
.
The next one is by John Gormley, from the PlanetBertie Speech:
But it means absolutely nothing to the PDs and Fianna Fáil. Because they live on another planet.
It's called Planet Bertie. And Planet Bertie is a very strange place. On a green version of Startrek they might say: ?It's life, Jim, but not as we Greens know it." On Planet Bertie you can sign blank cheques ? because everyone does it, apparently. On Planet Bertie you can spend the average industrial wage on make-up. On Planet Bertie you can get loans from people ? that you don't have to pay back. On Planet Bertie you can save ?50,000 ? without a bank account. And on Planet Bertie, climate change doesn't exist. All that stuff is made up by Trevor Sargent.
On Planet Bertie there's a strange cult called Fianna Fáil, a type of religion without vision or values; and every year in August they go on their annual pilgrimage to one of their sacred sites, the tent at the Galway races, where they pay homage to their gods and the gods bestow them with gifts for doing their bidding. Oh yes, it's a strange place Planet Bertie. So strange and so alien to our sensibilities, that it's a planet that we Greens would like to avoid. For let there be no doubt, we want Fianna Fáil and the PDs out of Government.
We want change. Michael McDowell wants things to stay the same. The man who said 'no thanks' to one party government has now become its mainstay. As you know, Michael's popularity is soaring ? with Fianna Fáil voters. It doesn't matter what Bertie says or does, Michael will stick with him. The PD enforcer has become the Tammy Wynette of Irish politics, standing desperately by his man Bertie. Who would have thought it possible that the PDs would call for an end to tribunals enquiring into corruption? Or who would have thought that they would refuse to speak on the findings of the Moriarity Tribunal? Michael has gone native ? more Fianna Fáil than the Fianna Fáilers themselves
