Live on Real Madrid TV now, packed stadium, they are treating it like the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. As if the wanker's ego isn't big enough already.

Nice of Ronaldo to go back for a low-key visit to Manchester to personally thank Fergie for all his help
Respect
As for Real Madrid, i used the phrase "glorified Newcastle" last week and i stand by it
When the presentations become bigger than the games you have a problem but they might deliver on the pitch so we will see

Spose so, he's still a wanker though.
This thing on TV is hilarious;the wan interviewing people on the pitch is exactly like one of those bimbos on that pile of shite on TV3 (Expose);simpering non-stop while she interviews people who lick Ronnie's arse non-stop.

There is no need to be bitter, sir. Real are a bigger and more prestigious team than united. You neeed to accept this and move on.
Historically they are a bigger club but they have a lot of small time fans (you included?)
They are pretty average these days though and the new players will still make them inferior to Barca imo
Do you support them?

I have no problem with them buying the best players but this is terrible shit from Perez
http://www.ireland.com/sport/Perezs_Super_League_ ambition/maxi/fast/news/irnews/TMGfootballnewsheadl ines7547544
"We have to agree a new European Super League which guarantees that the best always play the best - something that does not happen in the Champions League," said Perez
i.e
we are shit in Europe these days and should be allowed to get to the last 8 automatically, because unlike Lyon and Roma we never get that far these days

I was at the unveiling of Ronaldindo, Laporta and Rijkaard and it was a pretty drawn out affair alright but there was a match after v Boca Juniors at least (that's why we were there, didn't realise about the unveiling till we got there, the match didn't kick off for hours)
Barca have always had a bit more class though in fairness
It's some craic.

Certainly not! I despise the club and its ethos. However, for any United fan(I presume you are one) to intimate that Real have small time supporters, and/or criticise their transfer policy, is highly contradictory behaviour. I conjecture that the majority of Man utd's supporters are flagrant glory hunters.
You need to take a good long look at your own team before you lambaste any other.
I just remembered your wum thread from last week
I wasn't criticising Madrids policy at all
Real Madrid have more glory hunting supporters than possibly anyone in the world and make no apologies or bones about the fact that they are trying to spread their brand further by acquiring big name players
There is nothing wrong with this as such but when tours of Asia, which most big teams undertake, get in the way of team performance (Madrid a few years ago), questions should be asked
Call me old fashioned but i'm more concerned with what players do on the pitch

Just watched it on the BBC there. Great stuff. This is what soccer is all about. Showbizz. Showtime. Lets get ready to rumbleeeee.
You either accept that its a disgusting business with no morals and get on with it or you straighten the whole thing out and remove the financial advantage the likes of manyoo and madrid have over the others. Lads here are falling between two stools. Castiagting madrid and saying ManYoo are the template. FFS, pull the other one, if Manyoo could pull off the money making scams madrid can they'd be at the very same thing. All Real are is a Hollywood version of ManYoo.
Personally, I think the European Super league is the way to go. Sure the premier league is a joke anyway with only the big rich teams able to compete. Who really cares in the greater marketplace about Bolton v Everton? Better off stick the 20 richest clubs together and getting something competitive. Get all the best players into those clubs and let them go at it.
I'm starting to side with Madrid now for next season, will see how the first few games pan out.

Soccer as it was died in 1993. It hobbling along now half dead. Where is the fun following anyone but one of the big 4 now? Where is the glory following cannon fodder like Derby or my team QPR. The "rich tapestry" of the game has already disintegrated, can you not see that.

I think that a European Super League is the way to go. Why bother watching dreary grey clubs like Bolton, Nantes, Bremen, Udinese, Shamrock Rovers playing other boring dreary grey teams?
We should be able to watch Real, AC Milan, Olympique Lyonnais, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Barcelona, Arsenal, and the other top clubs in Europe playing each other, rather than paying good money to TV companies to watch dross.

I'm always reminded of Berlusconi's words a few years ago when he said that in the future, people would be allowed to enter the San Siro for free in order to create an atmosphere for the paying fans who would be watching on TV.
The Americans, Arabs, and Russians who own the biggest clubs in the Premier League will no doubt be looking at Real Madrid as the template for future success.

Perez is talking shit and is only thinking about making his own club and their ilk (Milan, Man U etc.) even more stinking rich than they are already while at the same time marginalising the clubs who occasionally qualify for the Champions League (eg .Villareal and Schalke).
He has obviously got a short memory too as I seem to recall UEFA having two group stages in the Champions League a few years ago and they had to scrap it due to falling attendances and TV viewing figures.
People get bored watching the same teams playing each other all the time. Liverpool and Chelsea have met how many times in the Champions League over the last five years?
Also Bayern Munich and Real Madrid played each other a load of times in recent years.
I didn't think it was possible for Perez to make me hate him even more that I do already but he actually pulled it off.

For what I read from Ronaldo topic to the Super League issues I just think your ideas are quite fcuk and Perez and is stupidity is amazing an idiot.
Ronaldo is a arrogant fucker and after last night he will get worse, he thinks that he owns the world imagine what will happen today is head will be so big that he cant get inside of Santiago. No one can't doubt about is skills and that he can change the score of a game in 1minute when you less expect but this is all no one in this world deserves this much attention and so much money for something so small after all Football dont feed no one and dont stop wars or save our arses from poverty.
But since the world is getting nuts again (:p) this only destroy the market for small teams and if a small team want to fight for something more and get X or Y players the prices will be unrealistic, ofc no one cares anyway.
The gaps that happen atm are based on transf markets, and thats all the creation of a Super League will help the "rich" teams to keep the levels and spend millions on players the small teams will be semi-prof.
Btw on that list there is many clubs they can call them self big teams with more history and reputation that many of them.
What is Arsenal?! Lyon?! in europe what did they won?!
Marseilhe, PSG, Lazio, Ajax, PSV, D.Bucarest have more champions leagues that Arsenal and Lyon and on the years they won football was based on love for the jersey.
Exemple. Benfica, 2 champions leagues, 5 Finals Lost who can say they aint a big club of Europe even 2 years ago they went to all might Anfield Road and win 2-0.

I don't think they should expand the European Champions League. I think they should abolish it, and have a proper full European Super League. Take the best teams out of the national leagues and have them playing each other on a home and away basis over the course of the season.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Villareal from Spain, Olympique Lyonnaise, Marseille, and Paris St. Germain (for geographic reasons) from France, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma from Italy, Ajax from Holland, Bayern Munich and possibly Borussia Dortmund from Germany with other clubs such as Porto, Monaco, Sporting Lisbon, Manchester City, Valencia etc. being other potential candidates.
A proper European Super League with the biggest teams and the best players playing each other all over Europe throughout the season. It could be structured so that matches would be played in southern Europe (Italy, Spain, southern France, Portugal,) during the depths of winter as well.
This is just a wild guess so don't all gang up on me now. It is just out there for discussion.
