No access to TV or the interweb for the weekend so I had the upmost pleasure of Paudie's company for both cork matches. Some gems From Saturday Include:
We are looking for a small dog, seeing as X has recently lost his small dog.
X got a loan of a small dog from his neighbour to help him get over the loss of his small dog.
Would X get a loan of the Neighbours wife if he lost his own?
And then Yesterday during the football to cap it all off:
It appears we have found a small dog.
Added to this his near orgasmic howls every time cork got a goal and this man is the complete package.

He is from Kerry
Yeah he was on 103FM after the Kerry game defending Galvin to the hilt. I think it is an absolute joke that we don't have a Corkman commentating on our own games.

Overheard him talking at a function I was at earlier in the year, you should have heard him slate the players in relation to the strike. very much pro board along with the St Nicks delegate Finbar McCarthy who is a correspondant with C103. Also McCarthy was on the committee that appointed Gerald. Very patronising towards the people who went and marched in town was our Finbar. Every time the hurlers and footballers win it must stick in their gut. Corcaigh ABU

Sure they get in free to all the games, who do think they would side with?
Also Paudie is a teacher, enough side.

He was very confusing when Cork got their goals against Offaly.
He just howled.........you had to wait a while to find out if it was a goal or not. When he finished howling he would say "that was a goal".

Yeah I fuckin hate that, he does it all the time. You'd have to wait five minutes before he'd tell you it's a goal. He seems to forget that we can't see what he's fucking seeing.

More gems from last Sundays Cork/Waterford game.
Ah c'mon lads, sure the points per minute tally is down to 0.53 now, ye're slipping......giggle s.....ah, sorry, sorry, we're awful.
JFD: 'It appears the ball is in the back of the net' to which Paudie replies ' I couldn't possibly comment, I was talking to someone else over here at the time'

I don't care.
Ever since I can't go the matches on Sundays anymore I've grown a fierce grá for the man.
Plus I don't think I'll ever forget the last 25 minutes of the league final. I was unaware that orgams could be as long, Nor as intense.

and the bit where he interrupted the commentary to call out the names of the Cork teams in the primary game, while Waterford had just won a penalty. He keeps reading the names out and says to John Fintan Daly "keep an eye on that penalty there"

The C103 lads are all pure county board yes men. They'll spout Frank's line all day.
Lack of underage success is not a problem for Cork hurling as far as these boys are concerned.
Always tended to be quite snide when talking about Billy Morgan as well.

he's also claudine keane's uncle (robbies missus)
He tries hard to be 'colourful' but it is in a very grating way, like a local grandee doing the parish bingo-night number calling who thinks he is very entertaining. The job of a radio commentator is to paint a mental picture of the action for his audience. Brian Carthy, to take an example of this as there is another thread on him, succeeds in this whether you like him or not. Paudie Palmer fails abysmally - the action is secondary in imporatnce to the sound of his own voice and often you have no idea of what is going on or find out too long after a passage of play has finished.

A few weels back he did Bishopstown v Dohenys on the wireless.
He described Dohenys as a club who get their players and from mainly dunmanway and surrounding areas and Bishopstown a club who get their players from their own suberb and surrounding COUNTIES !

I have to agree with what Paudie said in the echo today. We should talking up Kerry instead of talking them down.Let's start yerraing.:D Yerra how did we win the all ireland last year, yerra were a poor team and we don't have a class forward, yerra all our forwards are markable, yerra we have big strong players but sure yerra we have no football, yerra Kerry are a great team, yerra we'll need a miracle to be still in with a shout with 10 minutes to go,Yerra there backs and midfield should be too strong for our's,Yerra we haven't got a chance.:D
