Myth: "Nottingham is the smallest city to produce a European Cup/Champions League winning side"
Fact: Eindhoven, with a municipal population of 212,141 (To Nottigham's 288,700) and an urban area population of 440,353 (to Nottingham's 666,358 ) is smaller.
Got any other sporting myths to puncture?

Myth: Rugby has always been a game for former colonies of Britain + France and Argentina
Fact: It was actually quite popular in the USA and Germany between the world wars, the USA are the current Olympic champions (won in 1924) and crowds of 20k+ were not unusual in matches on the west coast.
It was very popular in Germany, until the lad with the odd tash came along, for example, Nürnberg FC started out life as a bunch of rugby players and Germany beat France a couple of times in the 20s and 30s.
In addition, it was very popular in Romania until the end of the 80s, their national team were very competitive on the world stage back then.

Hmmm...
1. FC Nuremberg (German (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_language): 1. FC Nürnberg) is a German (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany) football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_%28soccer%2 9) club (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_clu bs_in_Germany) in Nuremberg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuremberg), Bavaria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bavaria). It was founded on 4 May 1900 by a group of eighteen young men who had gathered at the local pub called the "Bürenhütte" to assemble a side committed to playing football rather than rugby, one of the other new "English" games becoming popular at the time. Today's club offers its members boxing, handball, hockey, rollerblading and ice skating, swimming, skiing, and tennis. They play in the Fußball-Bundesliga (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fu%C3%9Fball-Bundesliga) again after winning the relegation play-offs in 2009.

Did not know this
In 1914 Glentoran won the Vienna Cup, becoming the first British or Irish team to win a European trophy.
As a Spurs fan, always thought it was them, beating Atlético Madrid 5 – 1 in the 1963 European Cup Winners' Cup Final.

Hmmm...
No contradiction in terms there, they were rugby players who fancied playing a different version of football.

Und zwar das sogenannte "deutsche Fußballspiel" das vom englischen Rugby zwar in den Regeln abwich, sich aber sonst im Großen und Ganzen eng an die englische Form anlehnte.
Although known as German Football, the rules were taken from English rugby and were by in large borrowed from the English form.
My German isn't great though and the language is pretty difficult in that piece. They used to make a big deal of it at Nuernberg RFC (Which itself is going a good long while)

And further on this matter:
Forest's fellow two-time European Champions, FC Porto come from a city with a population of 221,800 to Nottingham's 288,700.

^^^He actually started 26 league games IN A ROW between February and November 2009.
He also started 16 out of the 24 league games Liverpool played in his time there, more than enough time to MAKE Rafa believe that he was good enough.
He's clearly the master of playing the bleeding heart and has himself contributed in a major way to the fact that he's had so many transfers.
