Here lies the political corpse of Daniel Boyle
He said “ For you I would love to toil “
We said “That story we’ve heard before
Go away Dan Boyle, get out that door “

Bright as candle our Daniel replied
" Its important for you that I remain inside"
Ciaran Lynch said “ You must be mental
If you think Cork wants you back in South Central”

“The City of Cork is too small for my stature”
Said Boyle carried away in grandiloquent rapture
“Elections you see are not really for me
A Leader I’ll become by Imperial decree !”

“ If the People of Cork don’t kneel and Repent
Retribution by my Hand will surely be sent !
Shandon will crumble, the Lee will stagnate,
Only then will the name Boyle ever be Great !

Gormley was shocked when told of this story
Only he was destined for greatness and glory !
McKenna and O Leary he had brought to their knees
He hadn’t counted on Boyle’s madness down on the Lee !

“Being in the Senate has really gone to his head
If he doesn’t realise he is now Politically dead !
It was only through kindness and pity you see
We ever suggested he might be an MEP !

There is a moral at the end of this cautionary Tale
One you should heed lest you too Fail
If you ever feel the Surge of a Lust for Glory
Remember the Sad end of Dan Boyle’s story !

Down in Cork near St Finbarrs Steeple,
Dan turned his back on the will of the people,
maybe in time with Dan we will mellow,
But for now Dan you must change your colour to yellow.
