Havent see a thread about that yet....apologies if im wrong.

Right.....got offered a voucher for a dive and need to redeem it very shortly before it expires.

2 options: Solo or tandem.

Solo jump:

Positives:

- requires a full day training which eventually leads to being certified in case i want to jump again at a later stage (would then only cost about 70 eur per dive).
- very personal experience
- would get to steer the chute meself

Negatives:

- 2500 feet altitude only
- the parachute opens automatically as soon as you dive of the plane
- freefall last only 2 sec

Tandem:

Positives

- 20 min training
- 10.000 feet altitude
- 35 sec freefall
- reach speed of 200 KM/H

Negatives:

- 20 min training (probably dont learn aything....except not kicking the instructor in the balls etc)
- dont get to control the parachute at all and wont be in charge of the landing either.

me missus telling me to go for the tandem as the rush of adrenaline will be bigger and the freefall will last longer but some of me friends recommend to go for the solo as a lot more personal etc.

What would you go for? Has anyone gone for a skydive yet?

First time I went to do this, I only had the option of a tandem jump...it being the first time I'd done it.
After that, I could do what i wanted so always went solo.

If you have the choice, do the solo jump. Tandem jumps are the equivalent of being in a bus to the solo jumps driving a WRC rally car.

Tandem was class, freefall is amazing. My tandem master lest me steer for a while on the descent.
If you like the tandem then go back and do the solo.

Ask M&M, she is a regular skydiver

Not for long..I'll be joining the club myself soon enough....doing a solo jump and looking to get myself certified (25 jumps or so) over the next 2 years.

Today's the day.

I eventually chose tandem as this is my first time and i dont know if i'll do it again after that so thats the best way to experience proper free fall.

Should be a nice enough day to jump out of a perfectly working plane!

I've only just seen this thread now. Good luck marco. You'll be on a complete high for at least a week after it. Brilliant experience. Where are you doing it?

Just back,

That was the best thing EVER! Crazy crazy stuff, absolutely loved it!

I've been feeling a bit funny/dizzy/stoned since then.

It sucked every bit of energy i had in me. Thats probably due to the rush of adrenaline....you surely know the feeling although you must be well used to it by now if you're a regular diver.

That was with Skydive Ireland in Tip (close to Nenagh) by the way....friendly and very professional staff i've to say.

So, I'd recommend it to everyone.

So you got to do it first time out and didn't spend hours staring up at the sky like certain proccers did up in Tipp?

The crowd in Tipp were sound out alright.

You'll smile away to yourself for the week over it. The pictures and dvd are class too. You'll be hooked at looking at them for a while.

Well done... glad it went well. Some buzz.
