View Full Version : Who was the bigger let down this season - Keane or Berbatov?

Berbatov was a complete waste of space. Cost 30 odd million which should have been spent on a terrible midfield and contributed little or nothing to the team when needed.
Keane started poorly but improved a little then faded again. Cost 10 million less than Berbatovbut was frozen out...for not scoring enough imo. Recovered well enough back at Spurs.
I'm going to go with keane being the bigger disappointment as he is the better player of the two...even if his record for Liverpool is much better than Berbatov's.

I think it was tough on Keane because he was obviously not wanted by Benitez and became a pawn in the struggle between Benitez and the board.
Neither player is fit to play for a really big club in my opinion. I'd have far more admiration for Keane though because it's like he has never been away from Spurs when he could have let the whole thing get to him. Berbatov is a waster and I have been of that opinion since well before he went to United.

Keane is just a mediocre player at mediocre club and would never have hacked it at a higher level anyway, Berbatov is a gimp, the man has no passion for the game!

Berbatov will infuriate fans wherever he goes. I got stick off United fans for slating him for being lazy in a game against Arsenal a couple of years back.

honest opinion on berbatov is undedcided. when he was at spurs i thought he was a tremedous player and was very happy when united signed him.there's no questioning his undoubted talent and sometimes when he plays well you think keep this up and you'll be a united legend. there are other times when wonder if he is the laziest bastard walking the face of the earth.

I was amazed at Keane's transfer to Liverpool. My brother is a pool fan and he was utterly disgusted at his move there, we have been slating him for years mainly because of his poor International game.

when he was at spurs i thought he was a tremedous playerHe was great for dancing around the last Charlton defender and scoring and he had a good partnership with Keane when it took his fancy plus he loved playing in the UEFA cup but generally when things got tough against the better sides he threw in the towel and that was a dodgy sign.

I was disgusted that Keane didnt try and stay and fightfor his place in the team.

Keane was never wanted at Anfield.Rafa had no intention of putting him in the system and only gave him a chance at the start because he had to.
I never expected much from Berbatov, but I still expected more.

I was disgusted that Keane didnt try and stay and fightfor his place in the team. How can you stay and fight for your place when there's obviously way more to it than form/ability? Any player being used as a political tool is right to get away immediately.

Keane wasn't a let down, Rafa's treatment of him was.
as for Berbatov, he was a complete waste of cash. that time he keep the ball from going over the line and beat a defender to set up a goal was probably his only moment of brilliance.

Nonsense thread.
Keane was never given the time or oppurtunity to prove he was an asst to the club.
As for berbatov,i dont think those who watch a united game hear and there and fit to comment as they obviously cant see what he brings to the side.
People were very quick to talk about fergusons tactics on wednesday and berbatov is the one player who would have brough a bit of composure to our play.Instead the work rate of a headless chicken who nearly put barca 2-0 up gets all the praise and becomes a hero who can do no wrong. It amazes me.
I wonder if united won, would he have flown home with the team.

Berbatov played a crucial role in a title winning season back in december, january and february, particularly when Rooney was injured he was very good
Against Stoke in December, Chelsea, Bolton, Boro and the likes, at a pivitol stage in the season, he was very good
Say what you want about these teams but Uniteds title rivals dropped points at some of them but United got crucial late victories in key games
I wouldn't expect many people to remember this, especially those who had made up their mind on him already
He was not worth the money so far, but he has been important nevertheless
He was also crucial in the run in in big moments and in big games
Keane is hard to judge as i feel he didn't get much chance as the manager didn't seem to have fate in him
