Dean Kiely has quit the Rep. Ireland squad after being told he isn't playing in the Nigeria game.
Seems to be the end of his international career. We are screwed if Given gets injured.

he retired years ago already
hardly a big suprise that he doesn't want to be on the bench for some nothing game
There are other keepers anyway

There are other keepers anyway
1. He came out of retirement when Trap became boss.
2. What other 'keepers would they be?
3. He must have known there was a chance he might be on the bench. As far as I know no player is guaranteed he is starting by the manager (especially a friendly).
N.B. I wish I'd named this thread "Kiely does a Keane/Saipan"

in my experience anyone called Dean, Wayne or or the hybrid 'Dwayne' has been a bollox.

I dunno the ins and outs of it but I can undertstand players wanting to be with their familes rather than being on the bench for what is arguably the most meaningless game this country has ever played
I presume younger players such as Doyle or Kenny will have to do
If he doesn't want to play good luck to him

The Bulgaria game is next week so I wouldn't say it's meaningless. He must have known when he came out of retirement that there was a strong chance he would be on the bench a lot of the time. Why get stroppy about it now? He knew the score all along.
I presume Trap told him that. If he wasn't happy he could have waited until after the game and announced his retirement or better still, done it before this game.

Kirean Westwood would be a fine back up to Given

I don't know the full story but if he doesn't want to play off with him
Same with the Steven Ireland thing
I'd love him there but won't cry about it as he clearly doesn't want to play for us right now

I agree with you about the Stephen Ireland thing. Except for one extra bit:

Fucking know nothing no-marks.
Kiely has been shabbily treated yet agaim. He's well within his rights having been sleighted once too often. Whats the point in giving Given a run out.

Waddaya know, we got ourselves an Irish Jamie Carragher.
Bit of a send end, always seemed a good keeper to me... unlucky that he happened to be around the same time as Shay.

no replies in 16 minutes during a period of the day when the board traditionally goes quite anyway.
Hardly anything sinister
