If anything demonstrated the complete lack of skill most rugby players possess just look at the "penalty shoot-out" at the end of the heineken cup semi.
22 yards out, dead straight in front of the posts and half of them still missed!

Most of them looked embarrassed to be asked to kick.
A big fucking cheer when they got it then like.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
YOU ARE 22 YARDS OUT DEAD CENTRE.

If they pulled a random 12 year old kid out of the crowd, got him to take one and he missed, he'd never be able to show his face in school again.
There's a reason only 3 lads on a rugby team are allowed kick the ball.

No worse than jonnie murphy. Shocking that a professional rugby player can't kick from in front of the posts. I play second row and I can put kicks over from the halfway line, granted with only about 30/40% success rate. From the the 22 any under 12's footballer would nail it every time.

May i disagree with some of the stuff on here. I played GAA, better at football than hurling really, up to the age of 20 or so. I was a free taker of sorts, close range like. Now in Gaelic football 15 of 15 players kick the ball all the time. I can tell ya we had 2 (max 3) players who could and would take frees. That's 3 of 15 in a game where we all used our feet all the time. Now in rugby the majority of the players never kick the fuppin ball, certainly not placed kicking and very few non-kickers would practice I guess. I'm wondering if it's quite as easy as some suggest.

Cheer for that Rebel Red, hadn't actually seen it.
They should have had a gouge-out.

They should have had a gouge-out.

i severely doubt this claim
It happens, I knew a guy from Carrigaline who was a second row and a
goal kicker.
Also who could forget this guy who was a simliar type of player at international level.

would agree with that...alot harder to kick a rugby ball than a soccer or gaelic football and considering rugby players rarely if ever kick the ball and would certainly not practice place kicking a few guys were bound to miss...Surprised with Johne Murphy though...a winger should not have missed that kick but i guess the pressure of the situation got to him
