Anybody with even a fleeting interest in GAA knows that this man has not been taken seriously in a long time.
He tried to sue the Limerick cb for appointing JM and not interviewing anybody else for the job.
His main purpose in life is now winding people up.

The level of moronic posting seems to have skyrocketed recently. I never thought it could get worse than it was previously but somehow, it has.
I'm both impressed and disappointed at the same time.
Anyway, now that they're reigning 6 Nations, Heineken Cup and Magners League champions, with one of the highest representations in Lions history from any one club, I think it's fair to say that the "myth" that Munster were any good has finally been settled on the side that yes, they are a damned fine team.
They may lose this weekend and the Lions may get hockeyed, however today, possibly for one day only, the Munster players have achieved won everything it is possible for them to win in a year.
That's conclusive proof that they are a great team.
Now to address this question as to whether or there is an unsustainable bandwagon.
1. We'll only be able to tell if it's a completely transitory bandwagon if Munster start losing badly. That day will come, the age profile of this team suggests it will be in 2-4 years time, however I hope to be proven wrong. Might well be that things don't get any better than this.
When that happens, if Munster can't attract the crowds then we can judge to what extent it was a bandwagon. Currently, it's not possible to call it a bandwagon from these factors as Munster's crowds have consistently imrpoved year on year, with them taking back the crown of the Magner's league highest attendance from Leinster.
2. I have no numbers for this, and would appreciate if someone could provide them one way or another, but from all reports, rugby participation in Munsterhas risen greatly. Not the sign of a transient bandwagon, again, let's see if it lasts. Currently, there's no basis for a claim of bandwagoneering here. Not until it starts to decline.
3. 9 years after achieving the club world record attendance, almost selling out Twickenham, they're about to reclaim that crown, after setting records in countries such as Switzerland and Spain.
Is having a massive following over 9 years still a temporary bandwagon?
So from a grass roots level, an average attendance level and a consistency level, there's very little evidence that this is actually a bandwagon. Only one area remains where the tag of bandwagon can still be applied, the variability of attendances between bigger matches and smaller matches.
Let's look at that:
From http://www.magnersleague.co m/2_14.php
Munster V Dragons, Musgrave Park: Sold Out
Munster V Cardiff, Musgrave Park: Sold Out
Munster V Glasgow, Thomond Park: Sold Out (stadium wasn't complete, http://www.munsterrugby.ie/8493.php)
Munster V Ulster, Thomond Park: First game not sold out, 25,000.
Munster V Edinburgh, Musgrave Park: Second game not sold out, 7,500, 1,000 off capacity, although IIRC, there were complaints about availability of match tickets, due to season ticket holders.
Munster V Leinster, Thomond Park: Sold Out
Munster V Connacht, Thomond Park: Sold Out
Munster V Llanelli, Musgrave Park: Sold Out
Interestingly, with the last one, they quote the attendance as 8,500, I understood the capacity for Musgrave Park was 8,000, so if someone could clear up that discrepancy for me, that'd be great.
Anyway, only two games not sold out this season, both of which were very, very close to being sold out.
Does that disprove the argument that Munster's support is only for big matches?
I wouldn't like to say for sure, only that the basis for the argument that Munster's support is a temporary bandwagon is very shakey, as I've shown.
For those that argue that it is a Limerick only institution, well, I'd like to deal with that as comprehensively (and may do, most of my college assignments are in now, can you tell I've got free time again?), but it's sunny today, so I might go out and enjoy that instead. I'll just say that Musgrave Park is being redeveloped, (http://breakingnews.iol.ie/sport/?jp=mheymhsnqlmh). That's not something you do if you're not looking to get a return from it and making a commitment to staying on there.

Heh heh, brilliant.I think my position is pretty consistent on this one.I wish the Munster team success but a large proportion of its "fans" know little or nothing about the sport (or any other sport for that matter). It's just gloryhunting of the worst sort and they're at it years now without any sign of them really understanding what's going on.The way the pubs were suddenly deserted after a few bad results in the RWC was a disgrace. All off down to B&Q when Paul O'Connell, O'Gara et al were having a bad day at the office. To be fair, you wouldn't even get that fickleness from the Premiership followers. It's Munster as a branding exercise, tapping into the legions of consumer zombies that the Celtic Tiger has spawned that's so disturbing.I started drifting back to the GAA a few years back. A toe in the water first but now I feel so at home and get such an enjoyment from being at the games. I'd liken it to having a few pints with real friends with actual stuff to say in a real pub to jabbering to some oompa loompa in your checked shirt in some godamawful spot like The Classic or The Bailey.

Its a free country and he is entitled to air his opinions but its a sad sate of affairs if you are looking to Tom Ryan if you are trying to get one over on Munster Rugby. The man has no respect or credibility even amoung his own county people.
He will harp on about the injustices his losing team faced in 94 and 96 all Irelands at the drop of a hat...blames refs ,players etc,...

There's good friends of mine big Munster fans who were able to even interest me with their conversations about the game long before the "brand" really took hold.I find that I can appreciate and respect genuine fans of proper sports like rugby, football, soccer, hurling, cricket, AFL, hockey etc. There's the depth of knowledge and genuine passion there. Plus the basic principles of the games have some degree of overlap. Talking sport with most Munster "fans" descends to meaningless platitudes about guys being "animals" or what nice legs they have. Sure, they're the same spunk bubbles that loved when a big international game would go to penalties. Drama junkies.

Tom Ryan is articulating the ripples of anxiety beginning to appear within the Gaa due to the emergence of Rugby as a pretender to the trown of the Gaa as kingpin in Irish sport. These worries however are ill founded and premature.
Ryan sounds like a blabbering idiot. Munstershire does however remain the domain of bandwagoneering binmen and dockers the bubble will burst and then we will see what subsstance lies behind the mighty red army.

3. 9 years after achieving the club world record attendance, almost selling out Twickenham, they're about to reclaim that crown, after setting records in countries such as Switzerland and Spain.
What club exactly are you speaking of with the highest representation on the Lions team? I thought Munster was a province or are you on about Cork Con or something. It isn't very clear.

And badly rattled. Are you back into soccer again after the brave men of Leinster backed by the SFI destroyed the Munstershire myth.
Are you like most Munstershire jocks who just can't understand how the lilly livered ladyboys had the heart/integrity/derring-do to front up to Munstershire liginds and bring their own A-game?

Something so weird has happened in the last two years on this forum
Two years ago Pol and Lamps had the respect of the forum and Liam2Me was a laughing stock. Now I kinda feel sorry for the SFI. Ye should have left at the top boys cos ye have surely sunk to to the bottom. Pol has flaad the anti muntershire thing like a Junkie abusing Heroin. And Lamps is doing a great impresion of sideshow Bob. Liams post are now fairly factual and sometimes interesting. Pol and Lamps - get new usernames ye are a fcuking joke
