View Full Version : Funding for the 08 Campaign

Corcaigh32

It has been posted on many occasions in the Cork Hurlers thread that people would be prepared to give financial assistance to the campaign for posters, publicity etc etc.

We intend to set up a bank account on Monday morning for this purpose.

If you would like to and feel that you can support the campaign financially, (and we appreciate in these times that it may not be possible), please pm either myself, Barry K Obama or Mondi, for account details.

To re-iterate: We understand that these are pressing times and that people may not be able to donate money, so we are asking if you wish to AND you can only, please pm us for account details on Monday.

Thanks in advance.

Great idea.. A war chest is required.

As everyone here is computer driven it might be an idea to set up a paypal account also. It would be a lot easier to send money instantly.

Great work lads.

Obviously some people can contribute more than others but any few quid will help lads,

Keep bumoing the last one every now and again just to keep it above the radar C32.
We can all appreciate that money is a lot tougher to come by these days

Hi lads

Posted this in the main thread as well but does anyone else think it might be a good idea to print up some t-shirts etc with slogans and images supporting our players? The PROC t-shirts are always very popular and great quality and the profits could be given to the campaign or maybe even help the lads pay for fields and gear for training.

Corcaigh32
01-03-2009, 11:47 PM
We will be getting some promotional material for the event next week, anything that is donated and not used for the event will be donated to the players' training fund.

However, if the PROC want to get some done up, all the better.

True, another good option....

Lads, make sure you donate to this even if its only a few €uro. The likes of Barry K and Corcaigh32 are doing sterling work here on behalf of all hurling supporters in Cork.

Remember, what we are doing here is history in the making. In 20 years time journalists and historians will be writing about how Cork GAA fans reclaimed their County Board and overthrew a dictatorship.
Everyone here can play a part.

Sorry to bother you Corcaigh32 - I just need the details of the bank acount to deposit money to, and your PM inbox is full.

Could you please PM to me please.

Better still, unless you have a very very good reason for not posting the details of the bank account, I'd suggest you post it here for all to see. The reason I suggest this is that you have been doing trojan work for the cause, and I'd prefer you not to be distracted from that to respond to otherwise unnecesary PMs.

Its easier to go to your local AIB with the wad of cash. If you transfer by the internet you have to wait to receive a PIN by post before the account is activated.

Plus the feckers in BOI wouldn't transfer to an AIB account directly. Seems that service is gone. It done now though. Can't wait til Sunday to see the results.

Great idea.

It costs a lot of money to pay for the newspaper adds, road signage, banners etc. There's a few lads out there putting the money forward to keep this going. We can't have the same few people bearing the brunt of the cost. If anyone hasn't managed to donate to the fund through the bank account please give what you can on Sunday should there be the chance to do so.

We're all playing our part here.

Welcome Wildwinds of Ballinora. Laughing out loud at the Obama reference!! In fairness you're not that wrong. Its really amazing that almost all of this seems to be coordinated on the internet and mainly on this site. When we're finished with Ger Mac and Franko maybe we should start on Fianna Fáil :D

Will there be any transparency with the bank account? Can receipts and statements be posted up online or put somewhere for people to see?

Wouldnt want pro-Frankers to start calling us hyprocrites now would we!
Looking forward to Sunday now.

Just contributed there. Can't make tomorrow as I have my own training but that's besides the point.

Have you got an actual plan for the cash other than what's been mentioned in this thread? I'm not demanding an answer as to where my few bob has gone, but some means of 'advertising' the cause work a hell of a lot better than others.

Also, not being a complete stick in the mud, but should all this end favourably with a balance in the red, can I suggest the account balance is then given to charity?

By the way, the circus is outside in Bishopstown at the moment. I don't know how long it is there but has anyone thought of a plackard reading CCB Meeting in Progress outside it?

Hoops

So far the money has been spent on the material for tomorrow and the ad in the echo...........we had planned to give any excess to the players' training fund. If it all ends happily ever after, then either we do a) as you say give it to charity or b) use it to build a supporters club along the lines that bbf envisaged. Either way I can guarantee you full disclosure of accounts, receipts etc.

Fair point Mr J, although we had planned to give it to the players' training fund, that is no longer an issue, we also had a suggestion to give the remainder to a charity of the players choice.
