yes.
The stronger we can make hurling in all counties the better.

Of course it is good that hurling improves around the country but still surely it is not our job in Cork to help strenghten our neighbours?

Exactly. I think every one of the main hurling counties should be doing something similar. Fair play to Cork for this.

Hurling isn't strong enough as a sport to refuse help to weaker counties. A very good thing imo.

We helped Clare, and Waterford, so why not Kerry?

We need to help these weak counties like Clare and Kerry. Like the way that we helped Limerick with the rugby.

Good move, even if it is the kingdom we're helping.

Divide and conquer.......they will never be up to Cork's standards but if we can lure a few them away from playing football then we might weaken football a bit in Kerry.......it's all part of the master plan!!

at least one board in cork is being pro-active.
At the end of the day, Kerry are well off the pace and are competing at Minor A level in the Cork league, if that gives then a leg up then whats the harm.
Although I do think the Minor board need to re-examine how many teams are in the premier grade this year, far too many

I beg to differ those animals should be kept down at every opportunity.

At the Football AI against them when they were taking the piss for the final 20 minutes a kerry "supporter" turned and said to me "we'll teach ye how to hurl next year". The dope was serious too.

PS. I don't have access to the photo, could be anything. I'm only speculating as to what it might be

I would agree with that.

Remember sitting next to what i thought was a ordinary family of Kerry fans last year above in Croke Park. That is until one of the kids probably aged around 12 jumped up and started shouting "Break his leg" referring to a Cork player much to the amusement of the rest of the family.Complete animals..

Hurling needs as many counties playing it as possible.

They already play.

I am against us helping to improve them.

I have made that fairly clear. No need for you to post the same reply twice.

I thought you're never buying the Echo again?

Anyway, we're only giving them a leg up so we can smash them back down again. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thats a very selfish attitude.

Hurling is in serious trouble at the moment, there's only 3-4 counties that can realistically win the all-ireland and one of them is in turmoil, and might not field a decent team at all this year, we need as many competitive counties playing it as possible.

The stronger counties should be doing everything they can to improve the sport all over the country.

Would you not love to see a championship every year where you can list of 10 or 11 teams in may, that could possibly win in september??

More efforts like this around the country would go some way towards achieving that. Thankfully not all Cork hurling people are as blinkered as yourself.

I am blinkered because i do not agree with you is it?

I am all for a strong Championship but i am not in favour of us doing anything to help a team that might someday trip us up.

You have your opinion on the matter and i have mine but dont be calling me blinkered because of it.I am just not into helping that crowd out at all.Maybe some other county but not them.

Helping Kerry is good for hurling. Whats good for hurling is good for Cork GAA, and if you can't see that because of some petty rivalry with your neighbours, then you're blinkered.

You are not blinkered but Blind.

And just to add rivalry is what makes sport great.

OF course it is. Rivalry is great. Nothing beats putting one over on your rivals.

But for the sake of the future of the sport, sometimes rivalries need to be put aside.

It's just that you stated a few days back you were never buying it again and then you started a thread with a picture of the back page. To be honest I thought you were going to say you you took a picture of it but didn't buy it.

Come here to me, if you think putting up rangers pictures to my responses is going to piss me off you're mistaken. I could't give a shite. I know you're not a fan of Celtic or the Spl and that's just fine. I couldn't give a shite about that either.

But I'm sure you realise we're both first and foremost rebels and trying to distract from the theme of this thread is pointless. Last I'm going to say on it.

To the issue. I wouldn't at all be worried about this. Hurling is the best sport in the world and it's in danger. A little injection of interest in hurling in Kerry will have no bearing on hurling in Cork in the long run.

I would agree with Eoin, might make hurling a lot more popular in west cork if there was a bit of rivalry with across the border too.

The Rangers thing was just a bit of banter. My apoligies.

I got the echo off my neighbour.Lets leave it at that..:D

Anyway in regards to the hurling issue maybe yourself and Eoin do have a point.I suppose there is no harm in it and just let us see how it goes.

You and Lapsy Pa can go to the training sessions and shout abuse at the animals. Yer 2 peas in a pod ye when it comes to hating them. I mean like we all know what shite they come out with on match days and it's tough enough to keep cool but some fellas just have that extra bit of bitterness when it comes to them. I've had arguments with Lapsy about who's worse, I say Dublin, he says "NO FUCKING WAY". There's no one worse that kerry in his eyes and that includes the taliban, fritzel and cromwell.

Ya I know a few sound kerrymen too but there's a lot of ballbags (like anywhere) who are all talk around match days. There's a guy working for the company I work for and I'd see him once every few months and the first time I met him I started talking about football just for the sake of conversation to which he said "era I don't give a shit about football, I'm a music man". Then he called in on the friday before the Munster Final last year wearing his brand new jersey, creases and all, and when I asked him was he going to the game he said "nah, sure we'll hammer ye, there's no point".

You know the rest!

Name any MAJOR sporting championship that 10 or 11 teams have a realistic chance of winning.

There probably isn't any. But wouldn't it be great if there was.

At the moment, at teh start of teh football championship you could list 7 or 8 teams that MIGHT win it.

This year in the hurling you'll struggle to get 2.
