All that money and the pitch is a joke.
seems to be a problem with stadiums built in the last 10-15yrs, millenium stadium and amsterdam arena also have had major pitch issues in since opening, something to do with the amount of sunlight i think, they'll probably all be plastic pitches in the next 20yrs anyway

it's actually a problem with wrap around stadia apparently, not allowing any airflow or some shite like that
All that money and the pitch is a joke. They should ring Croke Park and ask them how to do it properly

"Dunning could be out for up to nine months after surgery on his ruptured Achilles"
Fuck, cringed when reading that.
They should ring Croke Park and ask them how to do it properly
You've got to hand it to them, the pitch is always in top condition.
remember the weekend of lashing rain during the summer, they had Kerry Galway on Saturday and another match on Sunday, the pitch held up no bother, phenomenal

The GAA have put a lot of money and effort into croke park, no doubt about that.
In saying that, as a GAA pitch is so much larger than a soccer pitch, it's easier to get sunlight onto the grass.

not just one match on the Sunday POL, Three!
Also, Wexford played Armagh on the Saturday aswell just before the real deluge. Wasn't even a nick on the surface.

Now I can't stand the Aussies as much as the next man but I remember thinking as I watched the match that the pitch was churning up a lot more than most considering the weather.
Although to be honest the Millenium Stadium isn't much better.
But then I don't think rugby should ever be played indoors anyway as wind - and how kickers deal with it - is a vital part of the game.
It's like trying to play indoor golf.

Jones Road under 2 feet of water, and lads playing super football on a perfect pitch several feet beneath that.
Only the GAA could pull it off.

I think they should try and get the fatties out of rugby altogether.
They add little to the game.

what about physicality at the breakdown?
I am very impressed with the ability of the fatties to fall over and deliberately collapse mauls, to be fair.
It takes a really talented athlete to take on the role of one of these.

If they get rid of the fat lads from rugby what are they supposed to do?
They can't play proper sports to save their lives god love them.

Watch Rugby League then.

In fairness the Aussies have a point that pitch was a disgrace and I see the turf at Wembley is being taken out for this "Race of Champions" shite they're having soon. Referees in fairness do show some cop on by moving scrums out of sodden areas when the need arises.

You don't get fat lads playing junior football.
Well, maybe one, now that Shane Byrne is togging out for Aughrim.

Australia's rugby authorities are launching an investigation into whether the Wembley pitch contributed to two Wallabies being injured last week.

i thinking along the lines of the precedent it sets, potentially suing grounds for damages under health and safety, clubs would be afraid to allow scrummaging if it costs them an arm and a leg. the aussies are already trying to devalue the scrum with the ELVs.
of course you already knew that
