I don't know about Ramos. Real need a pragmatist at this moment. They've been living in cuckoo land for years now. Those league titles papered over some very big cracks that are now being badly exposed.

I reckon Ramos will do well with Madrid. He did a great job with Sevilla and to be honest should never have come to the UK. The guy couldnt speak english and was always going to struggle with the likes of David Bentley and Alan Hutton who also struggle to speak the queens.
In all seriousness Ramos is a good coach with a great track record in Spain. A disciplinarian like Capello but amiable like Del Bosque. He knows how to handle the media in Spain and should be quite a success for Los Merengues.

10/01/2008 :
I will never understand how Ramos left a fine side who played excellent football like Sevilla for a bunch of hoofers like Spurs. I'd rather manage Sevilla on a lot less money, but with more chance of success.

Fair point Toro but Sevilla is very different from REAL MADRID.
A few points on Schuster though.
1. He won La Liga very comfortably in his first season in charge i.e.2007/2008. There is no point in saying that Barca were crap because they were one goal from the C.L. Final.
2. This season there have been a lot of questions asked about the club's physio due to the extrordinary number of muscular injuries being suffered by the players.
3. Long-term injuries to players such as Rudd Van haven't helped matters.
4. His worst problem was Mijatovic, a snake in the grass if ever there was one. Shuster had no power over signings but over the summer Mijatovic was cock-sure that Cristiano Ronaldo was going to be a Real's big signing. Ronaldo didn't show up at the Bernabeau and neither did Villareal's Santi Cazzorla who was another "certainty". Only summer signing of note-Rafael Van Der Vaart.
5. Michel, ex-player and Spanish international, a well-respected figure at the club and in Spain in general, resigned last week from his post as boss of the youth teams. In a T.V. interview he cited inteference from club president Calderon as the reason. He went on to say the following.
"Calderon is not the enemy facing you but the enemy next to you". That couldn't be more self-explanatory.
To summarise Toro while Mijatovic and Calderon remain no manager however good or experienced can handle the "can of worms" that is the Santiago Bernabeau at the moment!

Yep totally agree Lee. Having watched Revista last night and just been on Marca thats a pretty spot on summary. Mijatovic was a great player for Real but as you say he's a real snake in the grass. To be fair to Calderon he seemed to back Schuster all the way. With their history of getting rid of their most successful personel ( Hierro, Del Bosque), it would be no surprise if Ramos didnt see the season out, however I can see Juande being there next season.
Should be an interesting game Saturday night. Pep's Blaugranas should give the Whites a good ol run around.

Calderon backed Schuster publicly but on a petition from Pedja "guess who" he agreed to sack Schuster.
There is a footballing saying in Spain that goes "new manager -a sure victory". I don't think that Madrid will be wiped out at the weekend but I wouldn't bet much on them to get even a point.
When the k.o. part of the C.L. starts up Madrid could be a different matter and they seem very likely to get a P.L. side at the next stage.

They should have taken a punt on Del Bosque. I know he's unproven at that level, but I think he could have a european cup or two in him.
Real are a joke team.
