Surprised Noel Hunt didn't make especially as Shane Long isn't getting in for Reading. On paper it looks like a weak centre midfield

It is a very weak centre midfield, why wasn't Joey O'Brien called up, he aint too bad and I think in a friendly he could have done with a cap, he has come out and said that he is not at happy with being left out in the cold the way he has, and A.Reid being left out, jeesh at this rate we'll have no players left!

Why does Trapp continue to over look Keiren Westwood all the time for?

Joey O' Brien botted from the squad as well...clear statement from the Trap...that if you go to the media instead of him to air your greivances, you'll be dropped.

Also thought he might call James McCarthy from Hibs up to give him a cap which will tie him to Ireland. Scotland are pulling out all the stops for him. Only 17 i think but meant to be very talented!!!

Coventry, young keeper not bad at all in fairness.

Was just going to say the same thing, very strange one.

I hope he gives a few of the fringe players a shot!!

I know it mightn't be a popular choice but there were strong arguements for recalling Carsley to the squad. Limited and all as he is, with his experience he could have fitted into Trappatoni's defensive style of football no bother. He's apparently been the best midfielder in the Championship this season and compared to the other midfielders at the moment he surely deserves a place in the squad at least. We won't get away with Gibson and Whelan against most average, not to mind good teams. Trap's investment in youth will be his excuse, but considering he's only on a 2 year contract he'll be judged on whether we get a play off place or not
Don't agree with the 'Reid HAS to play' brigade but he definitely should have been in. Was a chance to show that he either could or could not fit into the current system. Either way it would have shut people up about it.

How could you confuse Hibs with the world famous Hamilton Academical!:D

They said a few weeks ago he was already after being told he would be in the squad, strange.

Keane said on his day Reid would walk into the Irish squad. Have to agee there. Did anyone see the ball he gave Cisse for his goal last weekend. Ridiculously good!!

He currently doesn't fit into the system its as simple as that. Ireland doesn't have the luxury of being able to field five attacking players. The Trap has consistently said he'd play with four attackers i.e. the wingers and two forwards. Reid hasn't proved himself as a grafter in midfield, if he continues to show the performance he put in against Arsenal then maybe he can feel aggrieved but he's not even a consistent starter at Sunderland. It's a long campaign so if he wants to get in the squad he has the time to impress. In saying that IMO he should be on the bench, to provide more options if games aren't going to plan.
