Is this actually likely to have a material effect on United's season given it only results in one game, Wigan at home, needing to be shoe-horned in later in the season & the standard of opposition are likely to be pretty low?
Sure there's likely to be a little hangover from travelling etc in the first game back but given that it's against Stoke (blatant favourtism by the fixture boffins at the FA surely?) but otherwise I can't quite see it.
United's Fixtures
Dec 13 - Spurs (A)
Dec 18 - FCWC Game 1
Dec 21 - FCWC Game 2
Dec 26 - Stoke (A)
Dec 29 - Boro (H)

Toyota Cup. :confused:The Toyota cup was the Intercontinental cup that used to be played between the winners of the European Cup/CL and the winners of the Libertadores.
The club world cup is the politically correct version of the above as the lovely people at FIFA decided that it was cruel to exclude the champions league winners from the other confederations - CONCACAF, CAF, AFC, Oceania.

Shouldn't be a problem. 5 day break going in, should be weak opposition in the semi. Final, and then a 5 day break.
Grand schedule.

Grand schedule.Surely they'll be resting players in the Spurs game ahead of the mammoth task that is overcoming Waitakere United/J-League Champions/Asian Champions League winners
Here's hoping United can become World Club/Intercontinental champions for the second time.
..something never achieved by Nottingham Forest or Liverpool

Stoke have a better home record than Chelsea have at the Bridge.
..United shafted yet again.
Roll on Japan.

Harry Redknapp on the Club World Cup
“No one gives a toss, except those ringing the tills at Old Trafford. But it is the world we are in.”
is this the thing ManYoo walked out on the FA cup for a few years back, a merchandise selling exercise

Stoke are not as easy to turnover as you think, especially away ( or at home either for that matter:) )

Deep down, bar the PR jargon, it's only the insecure small-timers like Houllier who really call these things major trophies (remember the famous 5 trophy haul of a few years ago :) )

It might be worth people throwing a good few notes on Ronaldo to score in the final, he's scored in the final of every competition he's played in for United so far..
Champions League Final
FA Cup Final

From Paris to Rome, Landan to Stockholm, the everyday loyalties will be set aside as Europe comes together in the hope that Fergie's boys can bring it home

'tis like the Ryder Cup, ...I expect Rio and the lads to be belting out Beethovens Ode de Joy on the ipod basestation before the game.
