I know there are a lot of nationalities represented here but the Europe is not 'the world', and not all the best players are playing in Europe either. I wish the likes of Four Four Two would do a bit of proper investigation instead of just producing the 'popular' choices from European teams for such lists. For more reasons than I have time to mention Ronaldo is most certainly not the greatest player in the world. (He is the greatest 'prick' in the world though). There was the little matter of the European Championships where he produced a number of Keith Duffy performances (gets alot of attention for doing absolutely nothing), or has everyone forgotten about that. (The Champions league means jack-shit, Vladimir Smicer and Harry Kewell have won that for fuck's sake). For all the craziness, the football played in South America would make most of those guys, mentioned in the list, cry with jealousy. Ferdinand is as skilled a footballer as Helen Keller was an astrologist. John Terry doesn't even kick the ball in most games, he just knocks over the guys actually trying to play the game, and for all his great performances in the past even mentioning Paul Scholes is a joke. Might aswell put Roy Keane in there for all the football Scholes has played. Get real Four Four Two.

I've seen, both in person & on the box, a reasonable amount of south american footy and, while there are some notably talented players on show, there is a notable gulf between the top sides and their counterparts in Europe..aided largely by the gulf in finances between the two regions.

A huge list like this is always going to throw up 101 arguments for/against certain players (and their ranking) as it's pretty subjective by its nature.

Colin Calderwood was once asked about 4-4-2.

He replied : ''It's a good read.''
