Tom McGurk just coined this phrase during the piece about Thomond Park.
Is nothing sacred?
Mind you, he also referred to Munster being based on the principle of the parish first and foremost.

Parish? Are you sure he wasn't talking about Junior Hurling?!

No, pretty sure he was talking about the parish of Munster.

It was a direct challenge to the SFI way of life.

I'd say he's quite fond of the old hipflask.

Since we matured as a nation the Peoples Republic of Munster Rugby has undoubtedly been the heartbeat of our race.

I really enjoy watching rugby despite the fact that I never played it. Listening to Tom McGurk makes me wonder if he is trying to turn newcomers off the game he is sickening. Hook not much better

The best thing Miriam O'Callaghan ever did was give this forelock-tugger the heave-ho. She knew his game.

As per usual the plebs of the board have fallen hook line and sinker for some classic INTERNETTING, and the best part is that he wasn't even on the INTERNET. Tom delivered a simply delicious double-barreled put down. He's clearly pushing for SFI membership.

There is a curious little paragraph at the end of George Hooks article in the Sindo today.
"As the Cork hurlers continue their self-destructive path, the GAA should take care that more of their finest young players do not follow the careers of the majority of the Irish back line that finished the match. Truly Munster have done the IRFU a favour. Many of the kids wearing those red replica shirts may decide that their future lies in a sport that pays and appreciates its players."
Himself and McGurky would be only delighted to see every hurl in the county thrown on a bonfire.

By the way, 16,000 for an international match in a shiny, brand new, long-awaited stadium is pitiful regardless of the quality of the opposition.

I dont have much time for Hook but what he's sayin here is right on the money.
Even junior rugby clubs look after lads far better than alot of senior Gaa clubs.
On a seperate note this whole Munster "brand"/bandwagon thing is really startin to piss me off. I've always had an interest in rugby since I was kid even tho GAA is my first sport, but all these bandwagon Munster supporters make me sick.
Its fuckin brutal in Limerick everyone thinks their a die hard Munster fan.....BOLLOX. We'll see how many of em go to Thomond for Magners League games.
I'm pretty sure he said the Peoples Republic of Munster.
Not Munster Rugby.
