Thank You Mayday. If the people of the United States place their trust in me today - I will serve my country with pride - but only until the job of Secretary of the Cork County Board comes up ! :-D

Why?

5 Reasons

OK Storysham - here goes:-

1. His comb-over hair style

2. He shafted Billy Morgan and Patsy Morrissey 'cause they threw him out of dressingroom before manager's team talk.

3. Sean Og said he should go

4. He has created a poisonous relationship between players and CB

5. He's an absolute gob-shite dictator

cause cork hurling and football has not had enough success under his stewardship.

he has presided over 3 strikes.

What else will he do.

He has nothing else in his life.

He is there for life.

True but look back into history at how hard it was to depose unpopular out of date dictatorial regimes with authoratarian power whilst surrounded by sychophants ?

Cork Co. Board needs this weeks word "CHANGE".

He is not for turning I fear.

U'r spot on there, Arcadia.

This man is your quintessential dictator. He is, as you say, surrounded by sychophants. He has an incredible power base and he exercises his power through the standard dictator tactics - FAVOURS AND FEAR.
For example allocation of tickets, jobs for the boys, shafting anyone who crosses him, bad fixtures and locations etc

To maintain his power - he has to act against anyone who is seen to challenge him in any way (ala a mafia don) Both Billy Morgan and Patsy Morrissey merely asked him to observe established protocol and leave the dressingroom but this was seen by 'the great one' as a personal affront.
The then chairman (can't rem his name) called John Allen to a meeting and berated him for Patsy's actions but John told him where to go.

Make no mistake about it - this man will cling to power as long as he can and unless he is opposed, he will still be making trouble in 15 years time.

However, a lot of genuine, good GAA people have had enough - Its very significant that two main figures like John Allen and Donal O Grady should criticise the CB on national media, yesterday. These were thinly veiled criticisms of Frank.

Realistically the best we can probably hope for is that he won't be allowed carry on after he reaches 65 in May next year.

But we need public opinion to come our strongly against him - thats why a discussion forum like this is important - keep the opinions posted.

Reading the various media scribbles over the last 2 weeks there seems to be a sea change in attitude. Previously a journalist was either pro player or pro Gerald Mc. Now it seems journalists have started to think outside the box and question why we have reached another impass rather than just blindly blaming player power.
A lot of national journalists have started to call for the head of Frank and while paper never refuses ink the journalists would not make this call unless they were getting soundings from there GAA contacts, the people who feed them stories.
Therefore, this change in attitude by journalists is reflected in the whisperings in meeting rooms and committees throughout the county. Frank being out of the county isn't helping his cause as he is unable to stamp his will. The fact that he left the county for holidays and no one can act or comment in the CCB tells us everything that is rotten in the hierarchy of Cork GAA.
People have finally woken up to what is wrong in Cork GAA and are now looking for a head other than that of Donal Og or Gerald Mc. The older heads in the politburo may turn against Frank to protect there own skins and this might bring about the revolution that we so badly need.
Either way, Frank is definately gone in the short term. The questions is... will he go quitely or will he put up a fight and bring the whole politburo down with him?
Dictators don't tend to go easily because the sins/crimes they committed during there reign are no longer able to be covered. So once he is gone expect some great revelations about his reign.
When the Catholic Church lost its control of the people of Ireland we asked ourselves "How were we so stupid?" When Frank goes expect the Cork GAA public to ask similar questions once the ugly secrets float to the surface.

Frankie Combover will carry on regardless and oblivious to the court of public opinion - until he drops at the ripe old age of 96, probably and still in charge. He will never willfully step down; his ego is that big. He will have to be forced. And God I hope it happens sooner rather than later for the sake of GAA in Cork.

It will take some brave people. I hope that it can be done.
