Saw the banner on the main page about RTE the Dublin National Broadcaster.
Excellent stuff;
Some recent examples?
Cork Film Festival coverage; nothing zilch. Dublin Film Festival 6.1 and 9 news
Protest last Saturday by 2,000 against Medical Cards? Nothing.
5,000 students marching in protest, nothing!
TV Dramas based outside Dublin commissioned by RTE? Nothing, Zilch
How much will the Jazz Festival get?

Is there a campaign against this? Anyone withholding their TV license fee in protest. Any other examples?

The lack of coverage of events outside of Dublin is terrible. It seems if there was a tiddly winks competition in Dublin it would get blanket coverage or are we just terrible at promotion of events in Cork? I know Pascal is a Kerry man and there is a lot we can blame Kerry for but not this one I think.

OK fair enough. :oops:Though when was the last there has been any TV drama about Urban lives based outside of Dublin or even a TV drama based in Munster?

I still think the overall point is valid enough though in terms of the coverage given to issues/events/culture of those living outside of Dublin.

Dublin rules the media,Government, ent ertainment industry etc.If ArteaEeee bring an outside broadcast unit outside the Pale it has to be some sort of national disaster etc type of event.

Dublin rules the airwaves.

Glenroe was an oldie. Most dramas on TG4 are based outside Dublin but then I'd say there aren't too many gaeltachts in Dublin.

I agree RTE is Dublincentric and a disproportionate amount of presenters are from Dublin but its the wastage going on there that I think is the biggest issue. If Kenny wants to go to Today FM or TG4 then let him off. There are plenty of presenters on Newstalk that could fill his shoes for a fraction of the price.

Capital D reports from Leixlip sometimes though in all fairness. And the UCD students who "had to carry heavy bags all the way to the main road" last week because Dublin Bus cancelled services to the UCD campus because of vandalism were covered extensively on RTE Morning Ireland last week.

RTE doesn't give a flying fuck about anything outside Montrose. Look at Gerry Ryan, Pat Kenny, Joe Duffy, Marian Finucane, Eamonn Dunphy, Miriam O' Callaghan, and all their other top "stars."

They are all from Dublin.

when 40 per cent of the population lives within 100km of Dublin city centre, its bound to happen.

Yeah, I don't really care, but we shouldn't have to pay for this shit. RTE are bollix, the idea of a T.V. license is bullshit. Fuck it all.
